  1. Did you friend me on FB and then wave to me on Messenger? Or should I unfriend/block that version of you?
  2. I did as a kid, all my cats were indoor/outdoor cats. They never had any problems. As an adult, all my cats have been indoor cats. They’ve kept their claws, but don’t get to go out. We’ve put out a cat shelter this winter. There is one main cat who sleeps there often, and three others that do a drop-in. And the raccoon seems to eat most of the food. And an opossum makes an appearance at times. We have a trail cam and now an adjustable wi-if connected camera monitoring the creature activity.
  3. Too many factors in play to know for sure. I’m 53. By 56 I should have my mortgage paid off, all my debt gone, and have enough in my 401k to be able to say “enough” (aka F.U.) at any point. But I won’t be eligible for retirement health insurance benefits through work until 62. And I’m nearly at the top of the food chain at work, so as long as my staffing gets normalized and I am not as overextended as I have been this past year, will I want to leave early? Maybe reduce at age 60 to working 8 months a year, March-June, Sept-Dec allowing for summer sailing and winter snowbirding until 62?
  4. I am in the opposite end of the naivety spectrum. I automatically fear the ACA plan would be significantly inadequate compared to my current health insurance plan. I’ve always considered an early retirement plan would require either my wife or being offered a retirement package with family health benefits included. Her employer does this periodically for employees 59 1/2. I’d have to wait until 62. Fortunately, she’s a few years older than me, so I still hope to be done (well?) before I hit 62. I’ve traveled more over the last 10 years after accepting I’d likely be working longer for health benefits than I’d otherwise need to financially. I think that’s what FIRE plans are at risk of missing out on. Life experiences skipped in favor of saving for later. I think more balance is needed. I don’t carry debt other than my mortgage, but I don’t feel saving every dime necessary, either. I haven’t figured out how to liquidate my retirement savings in the most tax-friendly manner, yet. But I have a few years before that is needed, and too much to do in the meantime!
  5. Some do a better job with the presentation than others.
  6. I think of it more as a basin.
  7. Is that my photos were all deleted, my memories all redacted. Except for the cheeseburger.
  8. West of Chesapeake City are, paradoxically, North East and Rising Sun.
  9. All of my hardcore high school friends and I revered the Ramones.
  10. It’s not convenient, but it’s amazing.
  11. John Stewart is a comedian. If someone is mistaking him for a news source, that’s on them. Tucker Carlson has admitted to lying on his broadcasts. If one still considers him to be news, that’s on them, too.
  12. If you’re planning to stay in TN, there’s a sub-two hour overview of Johnny Cash that you can stream on Hulu or Prime.
  13. Makaha, O’ahu currently. Aruba in April? Outer Banks in June.
  14. And yet the Browns may manage to be eliminated days before the Steelers. Here’s hoping!
  15. I’m assuming Steelers fans like @Kzoo would now prefer Buffalo to win, so we’d face the Bills instead of the Chiefs? But that’s on reputation alone, I don’t know who we match up with more favorably. I’m still stunned that Mason has played so well the past few weeks.
  16. What part? Allegheny County will have far more resources than say Lawrence Co. or wherever Sandy Lake is.
  17. Probably because of the exchange rate.
