Only in our corner of the world. Pretty normal in much of Europe and developing nations. I remember being in Nuremberg at little old ladies were riding micro-scooters down the cobblestone streets of the old town. That was crazy!
See the Horseshoe falls but go to Niagara on the Lake. Much nicer. Wrong time of year for a pretty drive other than the town of Niagara Falls in the rear view mirror.
A friend of mine living in China tells me Tik Tok is a STEM based site there with no silly social media content. Maybe the Chinese are trying to dumb us down?
Social sciences in general are getting a bad reputation these days. My Indian neighbour says his kids won't be going to college if they don't do STEM programs. No art majors in his family, I guess.
But if we are willing to starve off thousands of people today for a green economy, in the hope that unproven effects on people who will be born 100 years form now, why not address the things that are actually harming us?
Same as the Maple Leafs. Stands are loaded with corporate money and they sell more merch than any other team. They have an underserved loyal fanbase so why pay to win when making first round playoffs on rare occasion pulls in the highest revenue in the league?
In my air ambulance days I constantly asked the government dispatchers what the severity of the case was. I would remind them there was no point in killing a crew of 5 highly trained specialists to save one that could wait until morning. It wasn't until a crew was actually killed in Masset that they reconsidered their safety parameters. That was forced by the BC paramedics union.
