  1. You are correct and the world is full of idiots.
  2. Womaxx is testing for Covid. Are you having enough fun yet?
  3. The Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel has been closed for multiple days on three occasions due to ship or barge strikes. It has been hit and briefly closed on multiple other occasions. Shit happens. When the Navy still had FBM submarines stationed in New London they had to stay on the ocean side of the Gold Star Bridge due to the fear of having them trapped upriver at the New London submarine base.
  4. We did it by having two good paying jobs and with a Government loan due to 8 years in the Navy. The mortgage was for 30 years but the house sold 10 years after we bought it for almost 4 times what we paid for it. That in turn financed the bulk of the cost of the present house. Even at that the first house purchase included some help from my mother who had a very good paying job. Could we do it in today's market. Maybe not, maybe yes. It would be borderline. There are some equally high paying jobs in CT building submarines.
  5. I suspect this will be dealt with as a national emergency. A maximum effort will be made to clear a usable channel.
  6. No question about it. If you start near the top of the middle class you can work your way to the middle.
  7. I'd withhold the negativity for a while longer. It's like ice skating judges giving too high a score too soon and not having enough head room for other performances that might exceed the first. I have faith in RE. He can top this.
  8. You are probably honest deep down.
  9. What are you doing for anti skid for older folks wearing socks and carrying laundry baskets.
  10. TK was last seen on a street corner holding up a sighnwith a picture of a Nissan Leaf and the words "the end is near".
  11. If you look at the numbers, the middle class is collapsing. The middle class, once the economic stratum of a clear majority of American adults, has steadily contracted in the past five decades. The share of adults who live in middle-class households fell from 61% in 1971 to 50% in 2021, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of government data.
  12. The problem with increasing the wage of fast food workers is that the associated price increases have the most effect on the poor and low middle class, pushing them lower. Folks with 6 figure incomes like these sorts of ideas because they can afford to,
  13. No changes. I can still see.........or I will be able to once the industrial strength eye drops wear off.
  14. If there is anything important on the back up drive such as pictures you need to get back, most good computer shops can possibly transfer that to another drive.
  15. Higher wages and fewer jobs and higher prices and some failed business's which means fewer jobs. Eventually instead of 6 pizza shops in town there will be one with an hour wait and customers will learn to make their own pizza. That one pizza shop will stay in business because there will be people with 6 figure incomes willing to pay $50 for a pizza. There will probably be a housing lottery in town for those forced out by the 6 figure incomes.
  16. Bears do too. 1962: A black bear named “Yogi” became the first living creature ejected from a supersonic aircraft when the USAF tested the B-58’s escape capsule. Ejected at 35,000 feet from a B-58 flying at 870 MPH, the bear landed unharmed 7 minutes 49 seconds later.
