  1. The ones I can remember off the top of my head, 82 Mazda pickup truck, 88 Chevy Baretta, 91 F150. Probably forgetting a couple.
  2. I don't believe the proportion of assholes among truckers is any more or less than the general population. We are just regular folks after all. It's just that when a trucker is an asshole, it is on display for all to see. Speed limiters exist for good reasons, but they can cause no end of frustration for both those driving speed limited vehicles and every one else that has to cope with them. The keep right except to pass rule, whether written or implied.is a good way to keep order, but when drivers don't seem to know what the gas pedal is for when accessing on ramps, keeping to the right lane in dense traffic is stressful in a large vehicle. I spent the last couple of years of my career pulling double 53 footers on the Detroit/Windsor to Montreal corridor through some of the busiest traffic in North America. Our speed limiters were set at 90 kmh (56mph) so even asking politely for a lane change when you are 130 ft long travelling at a substantially slower speed than the traffic flow was pointless. All you can do is keep the right lane and watch every vehicle merging from the right for signs that they were going to panic and run themselves out of room rather than just getting on the gas and getting out there. There are times when inconveniencing other traffic is just unavoidable, and I have been the recipient of the one finger salute on occasion. However, my motto as a professional driver with regard to the motoring public was, your convenience is not my primary concern. Your safety is.
  3. The solution to the truck problem is simple. Just stop buying stuff.
  4. I think you get a pass on bacon quiche.
  5. As long as you don’t eat quiche, everything else can be overlooked.
  6. Gotta occupy your time somehow, so why not get paid for at least part of it.
  7. Remember Click and Clack? A haircut meant something entirely different to those guys.
  8. I suppose you will be able to take over control in an emergency?
  9. Will it keep you off work for a while?
  10. Why didn’t you get them all cut at once?
  11. Sorry, but if I come there to visit you, I'm wearing clothes. And I hope you do too.
  12. Nope. Go train from Clarkson to Longbranch costs me about 3 bucks return on senior's rate. I can take the bus from home to the station for free, and I locked an old bike to the rack at the Longbranch station to ride the 1.4 km to the shop. I walked it the first day, but the walk back to the station after being on my feet all day was a killer.
  13. We will be on the gulf side the whole time so don't need to worry about dealing with that.
  14. We were not sure what our chances were going to be given that a new Florida policy gives Florida residents a one month head start on booking campsites in the state parks, but we managed to book an entire month in three different parks. Yay! Now I better bring in some work to pay for all this travel given what is happening with the price of gas.
  15. One of the guys I have been doing wheel building and repairs for the last number of years is moving up from his mobile repair business to a brick and mortar shop in Toronto. He hasn’t fully opened yet, the front door is locked and the windows are covered in paper, but the service department is operating and he has a dedicated and loyal clientele that keeps him busy. He asked if I could come in for a few hours a couple of days a week to help out so I said sure. Mostly high end road stuff which is great to work on. Plus he is a great guy and an awesome mechanic so a good opportunity to learn stuff.
  16. Another one in the been there done that camp here. You have no idea yet how strong you are but the realization will come to you that you got this. Not before some considerable pain and healing, but this too shall pass. We are here for you man.
