  1. So this is about keeping the gf happy, and you're more worried about the TV than restoring the romance of a fireplace? No wonder you have no bone shaking lows.

Scientists didn't claim we were having an ice age. Science warned about a cooling trend and it's damages. So we listened, and avoided the cooling trend. It's science, not banter, and it didn't change to global warming after the Ozone danger passed. Science has been warning about climate changed caused by greenhouse gas emissions for decades. In 1896, a seminal paper by Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius first predicted that changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels could substantially alter the surface temperature through the greenhouse effect.

The Ozone Hole is the perfect example of the current climate change debate. People like to cite that as s reason why the climate change warnings are just more doomsaying and it will not come to pass. In the 70's when we were first warned, there was a lot of the same arguments - humans didn't do it, it's too expensive to fix it, we can't fix it, we'll just make xxxx worse trying to fix it, it's just political, other countries aren't doing their part so why should we, just throw up our hands and hope...... The Montreal protocol was adopted in 1987.By 2006 there was measurable and consistent repair in the Ozone layer, and it has continued to repair since then. The doomsday scenario didn't happen - because we spent the money and effort to fix it. And Air Conditioners and fire extinguishers still work. That doomsday scenario was a walk in the park compared to what we face if we don't address the global greenhouse emissions. I refuse to just give up. I have grandchildren to think about

If we think the green energy fiasco is expensive, just wait til we see what the fiasco will cost if we don't try to make green energy less of a fiasco. Climate change is about to make everything REALLY expensive. If you can still get it.
  5. I prefer the ones that have a cherry aroma
  6. yeah, sure, blame the trees....................
  7. Yeah how fly would you look after 40 years in a DESERT!?
  8. It must have at least 250 items on the menu, and you don't need the menu becaase you can just order whatever you got a hankerin' for and they'll make it. But some do have bad food. Those will tell on themselves before you even get in the door, so just leave. We had a great local diner, new ownership and now it's awful. It's probably going to close in a year.
  9. A LONG time ago. At about 3AM. In not the best neighborhood. But we were stupid and knocked on doors anyway trying to get to a phone. Would be a better story if I remembered how we got out of that mess, but I know we didn't get to call anybody.

My gas tank is 12.6 gallons. Isn't there a different sized nozzle for liters?
  11. If I did, I wouldn't be here with you plebians. I would be on some untraceable tropical island instead of still in my office at the place I ripped off. Really, is foresight so difficult?

Whew! That won't affect us in America, we only buy gallons of fuel!

Couple factors right off the bat: severe weather has been depleting herds. Cattle are down about 15% over a few years ago, pigs and chickens too, just not as much. 4 companies control about 90% of the market for meats. They are having trouble hiring. And they are colluding on pricing, making record profit margins while their costs increase The war in Ukraine is significantly disrupting the grain market The number of truckers is dropping rather rapidly. So shipping costs more. Low income employees (store clerks, restaurant staff) are finally getting paid a decent wage. We went to a pizza place last night - an uppity pizza place in the city. $140 for 4 (with tip & drinks)
  14. It won't create acrimony, he'll run out and buy a new chair. I just don't want to make him feel bad. My daughter won't care, she'll be all "It still holds your butt off the ground, doesn't it?" (We might have to wait until after memorial day when people head back downashore.)
  15. 19 or 20 years old. Tried to quit my 6-11PM job at the McD's because I had a better, fulltime 7-4 job. They talked me into working 3 or 4 nights a week until they could replace me. I woke up to the sound of a 20 ton punch press pounding inches from my face. Must have leaned into the pedal when I dozed off. Walked right to the phone and quit McD's for realz this time.
  16. I didn't think there was a reason to inspect them immediately. I don't know where he got them, so not sure if the store would do anything now. They were Christmas gifts, He actually had them at his house until a few weeks ago. I don't want to make him feel like he has to buy another chair, these aren't cheap!
  17. Our Daughter and Son in Law got us some nice fold up rocking chair, the ones that stuff in a duffel bag, for camping. Finally got around to pulling them out of the duffels. One of them was not only not a rocker, but it was a completely different brand than the duffel it came in. So now I'm wondering if he just swiped them off the beach one day and gifted them
  18. the easy way is to put a space heater in front of the greenhouse then drape the plastic sheet door over it. My trays are running 75-85 consistently I still have to plant the squash and eggplants. I replanted teh marigolds and San Marzanos after I dropped that tray
  19. After what Barkley was able to do behind the Gints putrid O line, this should scare the whole league

  21. Your wife can't open it herself? Why do you have to get invovlved?
  22. Pro tip: Use Yamato cukes, add fennel. Not the leaves, diced up bulb We'll sometimes throw in sweet tomatos
  23. Fridays aren't good. Weekends are good. Fridays are just pre-good
  24. Yes, much like a green onion. A little more fibrous, so you do need to cook them a bit. They are just a strong but not pungent garlicky taste, with some sweet. I've never seen them in stores, but they have to be cut off the plants, and they are delicious
