  1. We do family dinner Sunday but yeah maybe a quiet walk on the beach. She’s going with me to Vegas (They hold them in swank places so she’ll get pool & spa time) so we do need to pack.
  2. Kicking the MIL to the curb Sunday morning. Nothing else planned that I’m aware of.
  3. I buy several grand in branded clothing for my security team a year & have been using these guys since 2018. I hit them up yesterday stating I need 3 new shirts as I lost weight & don’t want to wear baggy polo’s to the meetings. As we have a lengthy approval process I told them I’d pay with my CC. I got shipping confirmation today, I sent an email asking for payment link and was told Josh (owner) said not to charge, his thank you for 6 years of business. I’m never leaving those guys!
  4. I worked graveyards while going to college. It seemed every semester, I would have one 24-36 hour period where I couldn’t sleep. It was usually: work, early class, late class, work, early class…
  5. Agreed, “funny” in that I’ll be doing pretty close to that next week… 18-20 hour days for 2 days for our annual meetings
  6. I have heard good things on orange Seal but Stan’s has worked well for me over the years. I also swear by Stan’s valves. I had some that came with the wheel/bike and switched them all to Stan’s. I find non Stan’s valves tend to get gummed up making the presta valve impossible to unscrew without a tool.
  7. I notice the same in that the older the tire the more pimples show on the tread, or where the tread once was… I run Challenge Strada Bianca’s on my mixed use bike road/gravel and I love the tire but they don’t seem to last very long. I don’t track mileage but probably ride that bike 1,500 - 2000 miles a year and replace a rear tire about every year.
  8. I live near the OC Fairgrounds and they often hold car shows there. There was a VW show recently and we saw a bunch of beautifully restored bug, vans, square backs and a few fastbacks, karman ghias & such. Really cool to see them all cruising to the show.
  9. Yeah I heard Westfalias are worth a lot these days. One of my neighbors has a Westie. Just leaves out out in our community too…

    TIB

I had company phones for ages and with my last lay off I just got my own phone and then carried two with my last job. I got tired of telling everyone my new number every few years with job changes. When I returned to my previous employer, I actually forwarded my old phone to my personal phone, loaded email teams & such to my personal phone and just carry my personal phone.

    Breakfast

Had to look up goetta as I have never heard of it. Google also said it was a Cincinnati thing!

    Breakfast

Hard pass on Bfast these days. I’ll eat when I get hungry which is usually between 10-11 AM.
  13. My wife’s family has that dynamic in that my MIL married her best friends brother. So after the split the MIL still hung out with WOChrisL’s aunt and grandparents. It was fine & not awkward at all.
  14. I’ll sometimes do a latte or a mocha but will likely not be drinking either any time soon. If I need to drink coffee quickly I’ll often ask for room and then add a couple of blocks of ice.
  15. Yeah my brothers Vanagon didn’t go very fast either. We were on mostly rural roads so it wasn’t an issue but first gear only got you to about 10 MPH, rev the shit out of the engine, shift and max out at 20 MPH in second. Rinse & repeat to hit 4th gear at 45, top out at 55..
  16. That’s how my mom said it too. It’s a Euro thing. She also called the speedometer a speed o meter. We thought it was just her but then I heard a cousin from Holland say it the same way.
  17. So they had to work back to back shifts or they had 24 hours between shifts? I hated it when schedules would change on your day off. I had that happen to me once where I had two days off, another squad leader borrowed me and scheduled me while on my first day off without telling me. A patrol had to come & get me and I was berated & threatened with NJP for missing my shift… Later that day the Platoon Sergeant called me in, said he spoke with Sgt Gramby and understood what happened. He told me not to worry about it. I never pulled that shit once I became a squad leader & had to schedule.
  18. That’s really cool! I use the Stans tire plug (Darts I think they are called) and just keep them in my jersey pocket. I run Stans sealant in all of my tubeless bikes so just carry it with every ride. I have never used a plug either but carry them as an ounce of prevention. I have seen enough video of people spraying sealant to know it can happen. Personally, my only flat on a tubeless tire (so far 😉) was a deep gash when I hit a piece of metal in the road.
  19. My oldest brother had one for many years. He used them as his fishing & camping rig. While visiting him I drove his Vanagon a lot, it was fun to drive. It’s also a really weird sensation when turning as you sit above the front wheels so it feels like you are turning & then the rest of the van follows.
  20. No I missed it, thanks for pointing it out. I have had pannekoeken in Holland. I actually prefer the savory ones over sweet.
  21. One of our favorite attractions at our local fair is the racing pigs. The schtick is a bit tired as it never changes yet we go every year! CJ had an absolute blast last year and got a track side seat.
  22. On my new food plan I had to cut fruit. That was the hardest sacrifice for me. I’d never eat rice again to eat some fruit… I buy Fresca now and that seems to satisfy my evening fruit cravings.
  23. Correct, generally video isn’t stored that long (we have a 60 day retention policy) but if you know a situation occurred, know that the data hasn’t yet been purged, you can pull the data off the server and store it to view later.
  24. The sting will fade, turn the page. You have unique & marketable skills that will be desirable to other firms. I was laid off from my current job in 02 (yes I said that correctly). I was thinking, shit I don’t think they thought that move through but oh well, out I go. Come to find my boss whacked me instead of some others who he protected. He ended up leaving anyway, his boss was whacked and the person who took over was like, security is a cluster fuck, why the hell was Chris let go?!?! She then reached out & was able to reinstate my position with me back in it. Oh and damn near everyone my boss protected was laid off in a new management purge.
  25. Sorry to hear. Yeah it’s better to leave on your terms but at least you know your status & can plan accordingly.
