We used to stay at a cabin in big sir but my kids were still young so lengthy hikes were not an option. There was a really cool beach we would go to that you had to hike in but I can’t recall the name now. I do remember you had to wade a small river to get to the beach which kept a lot of people off of it. I actually like Big Sir more than the central coast/Cambria. You will have a good time. oh hey PCH had some recent storm damage, I think south of there, but maybe check traffic to get the best routes in.

I have been up there several times but not recently and don’t have any recommendations other than we loved it up there. I have ridden down PCH from Big Sir to Morro bay over 2-3 days. Epic ride.

Yeah the reason for the new clothes is a good thing. It’s frustrating for me as I rarely wear the stuff…

So I tried on my suits & sport coats and yeah, not gonna work. Faaaahk! I have to work our annual meetings and have to wear a suit/coat for events Wed, Thurs, Fri & Sat night. Years past I brought my suit & two sport coats & dress pants & mixed & matched. I tried them all on yesterday and they are all way too big. I already had to order smaller polo’s for the day time events, but I don’t pay for those. This is going to be pricey… The frustrating thing is I likely won’t wear the stuff until next years meetings and who knows if I’ll still be at this weight next year….

After she passed it took us about two months to clean out the house & sell it. OMG so much stuff that was accumulated over 50 years…

Yes, I think I mentioned this but my Dr had increased my diabetes meds and I was having some other diabetes related health concerns. I had a realization that I really needed to eat better. And then… I received a mailer from my medical insurance firm of the Virta program. They offer it at no charge. The timing was perfect as had my Dr not given me the bad news I would have likely chucked it. There was an enrollment process that included labs but once approved for enrollment, they provided all the tools: weight & food scale, blood & ketone meter, test strips, alcohol wipes & lancets & a BP cuff for free. I have a health coach & Dr available through the app & a ton of resources. My obligation to the program is to log my biomarkers daily (the weight scale & blood & ketone readings upload directly to the app in my phone) & do my best to follow the food plan.

There are studies that are linking the rise in Type 2 diabetes to the rise in Alzheimer's and are referring to Alzheimer’s as “Type 3” diabetes.

Although not a boomer, that was my mom too. She lived in the 5 bedroom house they bought in 1966 when they had 9 kids living at home. It was paid for and her property taxes were low. And, that was her “home”. She didn’t want to be anywhere else.

The Virta program I’m on doesn’t count calories. They provide a ton of guidance on what to eat, what to avoid and then follow the simple guidelines (for me) which is less than 30 grams of total carbs, 15 ounces of protein per day. In order to hit these carb goals they recommend certain vegetables and lots of leafy greens but as long as you eat to the plan you don’t count calories.

Yeah the three of the biggest PITA sisters have blown through numerous husbands. Some of them were really good guys too, hard working dedicated family men that just didn’t fit their vision of what a man, or at least their man should be. None of them did anything that would generally warrant a divorce, no infidelity, abuse or such. Bitch sister is currently with a guy and I really struggled to get the know the guy as I knew at some point she’d turn on him & he’d be gone.

I grew up with numerous opinionated sisters who all have seriously fucked up visions of what a real man is. I was told more times than I recall that a real man would have done the polar opposite of whatever it is I did. I learned early on to do what I felt best and what was best for my family and to hell with anyone else’s opinion. The term actually strikes a nerve with me as I can hear my sisters talking mad shit about me in my head…

She went down early and parked her fat ass in my chair. I stayed in bed watching videos for a while but am drinking my coffee tuning her out on the couch.

Awesome news @goldendesign! I know getting laid off is unsettling, been there a few times myself but based on what we know of you, I kinda figured this would happen.

I have a TV in my office, I grab a drink & watch sports 😂

Snacks, more snacks! The little F’r got me the other day as I usually give him a few treats when I leave for work. WOChrisL was getting more coffee shortly before I left so gave him treats but didn’t tell me. As I came down, Jack was carrying on & nosing me like he usually does so I gave him treats. My wife heard me giving him treats and tried to tell me but he scarfed the second treats before I could pick them back up! I also notice that he prefers to be carried directly from one bed to another at night. He can no longer do the stairs so I pick him up from his downstairs bed & carry him up. He used to squirm at the top of the stairs so I’d let him down & he’d walk to bed. Now he just lets me carry him all the way to his upstairs bed.

Nah not me but WOChrisL might. On our walk last night, WOChrisL unloaded a bunch of pent up frustration because of her mom. I have been working late, and MIL goes to bed early so I really haven’t seen much of her since Sunday.
