  1. I remember my dad helping me with math in the late 70’s with a slide rule... He tried to teach me how to use it, uh why don’t we just use a calculator???? He actually broke down and got one!
  2. Remember the Palm Pilots? Those were the bomb before smart phones that sync with your outlook.
  3. People only care about the Le Tour here. Spoil away on anything else as nobody cares anyway...
  4. Yeah dude I think you are off the mark. Business culture varies from city to city and within organizations. Yes the dress code is going more casual but making blanket statements and calling people out is wrong. Los Angeles still has a fairly formal business climate and ties are still common. Not so much in Orange County and San Diego. As a vendor servicing all three counties I had to match the climate of the companies I serviced and sometimes I wore a suit & tie, sometimes I wore slacks & a polo. We also don’t wear wife beaters, that’s just WRONG as it’s ok to show your t shirt in an open collar or better yet just don’t wear a t shirt.
  5. Could it also be due to the local economy and migration of people? I may be talking completely out of my ass here but hasn’t Michigan seen some hard economic times? Fewer People & them not willing to spend for a brew & burger maybe?
  6. I would like to see similar trends on food trucks, cafe’s and non traditional eating establishments. My theory is that the social scene is changing and the bar isn’t the hip thing right now. My daughter took us to this food court type thing, outdoors with several food cart type business. You could get all sorts of interesting food plus alcohol & dessert. The place was crawling with young people. Like my earlier post in the other thread, I interact with a lot of younger folks and I don’t hold the same view. There are elements of truth to your posts but we shouldn’t paint them all with the same broad brush.
  7. Are you around younger folks much? Most people today are absorbed in their phones, not just the youth but I don’t see antisocial behavior from our youth. Im one of the older guys at work and I see groups of folks in their early twenties gabbing in our lounge daily. We just had my kids, SIL and two of my daughters friends over and they sat at the table and chatted. I wouldn’t write off our youth as self absorbed antisocial at all.
  8. I was just about to post that ties are a thing with younger guys like above. My company is business casual so nobody in senior management wears them but the young guys do?!?! Some of the vendor management folks I deal with wear them still.
  9. My Legacy puts out about 250 HP with the V6 but with the symmetrical AWD it seems every ounce of power gets put into forward motion. I have yet been able to break a tire loose, it just lunges forward. But my favorite is still a 1980’s Chevy Caprice Police package. Listening to that 350 roar with lights sirens going still gives me the chills.
  10. Just a tip, locals don’t say Cali... Your going to SoCal, if you go to San Fran then you are going to NorCal. But your lack of a tan and wearing shorts & a T in 60 degree weather while we’re wearing heavy coats will give you away as a foreigner anyway so go ahead and keep saying Cali! ?
  11. My tomato plant is done already. It was a hybrid but the tomato’s were just a tad larger than cherry tomatoes. Tasty on a salad but too small for a sandwich.
  12. We have used Triple A to book a trip once. We used them more for the discounts but they did make it really easy. This was about 15 years ago so within the Internet age but I think there are more travel options available now.
  13. Yeah good luck, hope it works out!
  14. During the wedding rehearsal the planner lady said I should shake the grooms hand, kiss my daughter & do the hand off. I walked her up, gave him a steely stare, reached my hand out and when he reached out I grabbed his arm pulled him in and gave him a stiff punch square to the chest. I actually hit him harder than I intended to. I take my position and the planner says ok good, want to run through it again? Me, Yea!!!! SIL No!!! The look in my daughters face was priceless, got him!!!
  15. Right!?!? I saw a softball player get her middle finger bent all the way back against the top of her hand. Umpire & coach look at it perplexed, like shit now what. She bends her finger back into place and says I’m good, let’s play! Coach pulled her against her will. I also saw a baseball player about the same age dive for a ball, wrench his shoulder & cry in the dugout that his career is over... Please... I’m sure @MickinMD & @Parr8hed have similar stories.
  16. Ahh well in my experience they are. Girl softball players are freaking tough as nails tho.
  17. That’s how I got this... Missed them by that much! How’d I get pulled into this anyhoo!?!?
  18. Saw that, very cool! I bet there a a bunch of woman soccer players that could compete at a high level as football kickers.
  19. Right! She is usually pretty tired from the travel so is less obnoxious. This trip should be interesting. Her kids are planning a financial intervention. I know I bitch here about the petty shit she does but my wife is already primed. “She better not F’ing try to get a $200 meal out of us...” Damn tootin honey! She better not smash my peaches too! ?
  20. Yeah their contract is only for hours worked. No work, no pay... I also forgot about my other two states I support, I have 12 contract staff... One of the other issues is that I do have one person working at each site who will get Holiday pay. If I pay them for not working then there is less incentive to work... But I do want to do a cost analysis on paying the team for holidays.
  21. I have 5 contract staff who will get the day off without pay on Monday. I suppose I could give them all pay for the day as it’s my budget it hits but I had never done this on previous holidays... Maybe something to consider for 2020.
  22. I’m leaving early to pick up the dreaded MIL from the airport. Should be a fun 2 hour drive in evening traffic. End of month coming so lots of admin tasks this week closing out A/P, expenses. Also working on a interesting theft investigation.
  23. I don’t think I have a pattern but my daughter always sneezes 3 times. Two rapid fire, a couple of second delay then one more.
  24. Hmm that may have been my mistake. They are still in the kitchen trash (in the bag, maybe I’ll give them another go.
