  1. If we can stop having unexpected expenses, I want one for WoW. She is a little nervous riding here by herself, always feels like she’s holding me back even when I tell her I'm ok with riding easy once in a while. She is open to the idea. I deal with several on the trail. Most riders use the pedal assist and I’m fine with that, even when they pass me on the MTB. It’s the ones who use them as an electric motorcycle that are usually the problem. Just last week I was going under the freeway. At the narrow turn in, I was about to meet a woman walking up not far behind her, a guy was approaching at full tilt. I hit the brakes and was basically doing a track stand. The woman gave me a concerned look and about jumped out of her socks when he shot between us never letting up. I glared at him and then shook my head while pointing back at him to the lady. Nothing was said, but she gave a faint smile that she was glad I was paying attention.
  2. You’re mixing up the 2 daughters. My oldest (the one i mentioned here) had cervical cancer. The digestive issues are a side effect of chemo and radiation. Youngest daughter struggles with fluorescent light. Her boyfriend does sound for bands. She loves to be there with him but has found the combination of loud sound and some light shows is too much. It’s improving, but slowly.
  3. I started watching at 6:20. Sorry you guys have to wait so much longer.
  4. She’s doing well. No recurrence. Still has some digestive issues as a side effect, but otherwise doing well.
  5. Oldest daughter had a Talon. Got in a wreck that deployed the air bags so it was a total. She found a 1999 10th Anniversary Eclipse. No turbo, but a decent little car. She drove the wheels off it…..literally. Had to replace shot wheel bearings in both sides. It was around then that she decided not to nickel and dime herself at nearly 200k miles. My BiL bought it and flipped it. He is really good at buying and reselling cars. Really popular car with the Fast and Furious crowd. She bought her Mazda3 new when she sold it to him. Still has it. Less than 70k and still looks and runs like new.
  6. On this one, no. From my primary camera using a filter, I could tell light was going to be too low during totality. I had an older body that if sensor damage happened, I could live with it. I used the filter to position the tripod and focus then took off the filter. I pressed the shutter several times near the totality. This was the best. BTW - no sensor damage!
  7. Need subtitles. I didn’t understand a thing he was singing about!
  8. I called out because of the crud I’m dealing with. Plan to watch from home. Only about 63% at peak around 11:30. The high clouds out right now will hopefully thin a bit by then. Got to view 100% totality from work on the last 1, I think 7 years ago. My boss at the time called a “store meeting” so we wouldn’t be stuck on calls and we all watched in the parking lot. I managed to get this shot back then. I can see why anyone who didn’t understand astronomy would be shook. It’s an experience!
  9. I started at 47. I would say my peak was 52. I had a non-running injury set me back and then just life. I have had to re-start a couple times. I think it would have been back to stay if not for the broken collarbone last year. However coming back from that has been a struggle when running. It has forced me to walk more which is not a bad thing. I just need the cardo strength back.
  10. One of my good friend’s band plays this Fills the dance floor!
  11. Oh. I’m a terrible dancer. Wow and I keep hoping to find lessons for some Latin and swing-type dancing. Everything I find usually a weeknight with a ridiculous amount of driving after work. Not realistic from Maricopa. What we do is little better than high school dance moves from the 70s but we have fun.
  12. I had a Dirty Bastard with dinner tonight.
  13. 24 on the Stradalli. Still not quite on my game.
  14. Went to our friend’s adult prom party tonight. Like I posted before, it was mostly an excuse to get dressed up and hang out for a while. She had a live band with a couple guys I know. They weren’t bad. Played a lot of songs we know and like so WoW and I danced to several of them. Very few other husbands or BFs got out there. Towards the end, while I was primarily dancing with WoW , several formed a circle so about a dozen of us all were dancing together. Not anything weird except I was the only guy. On a related note, we were watching the Latin band at Tempe Art festival a few weeks ago. WoW was a little overheated so we didn’t dance, but we both noticed this old guy, if he was 5ft tall, it was just barely. Looked like he just finished in the garden. But the guy could dance and he loved it. A song would finish and the lady he was dancing with would sit down. He would just grab the hand of another young, beautiful woman in the crowd and take her to the dance floor. He knew how to lead and the women all appeared to have a blast. @Randomguy if you want to meet women, ask them to dance.
  15. Go read @petitepedal’s thread I apparently failed to parody.
  16. There was no free candy. Anyway, the dude had to go pickup his kid. Said his dad needed to get to a bathroom remodel job.
  17. I bet the extra air is helping you dream more. And BTW - I heard some people are looking for you…
  18. Think she might be up for a farewell tour? Where she can race the tracks she likes and leave on her own terms? Might be a better sense of closure for both of you.
  19. Walked 2.25 miles. Not feeling 100% this week but trying to keep moving.
  20. I had an 18” Weber for 39 years. It was just too rusty around the bottom openings so we decided not to bring it when we moved and bought a new 22” in its place. Love it for grilling. Never got the hang or using it as a smoker. I think the smaller size made that more challenging. I was gifted a charcoal kettle smoker many years ago. I got some great food from it, but it took constant monitoring. My family got me a Masterbuilt electric smoker for Christmas around 6 years ago. I love using it. It’s a simple model with a manual temperature controller and no digital monitoring. It still takes attention, but nothing compared to the old version.
  21. It seemed as I got older, the runners still there were more serious. I could literally see certain faces and say I guess I’ll place 2nd now. Now 3rd. Now…. I don’t think running is necessarily bad for joints if you work on a form that doesn’t jar the body. I do feel that because your body is more exposed in the exercise, it can amplify small injuries if you don’t listen to your body.
  22. I ran my only full marathon at age 50. I did halfs for another 6 or 7 years. An injury, my dad’s final decline and death and Covid all kind of snowballed together to get me out of running shape. I finally got into a good running place again and then had the wreck. I’ve been having a real hard time doing it again. I’d be very happy doing 5Ks again.
  23. I haven’t been tracking as closely the last few years, but it seems US marathons peaked 5 or 6 years ago. Just before the lockdown. I remember helping the girls move to Arizona 7 years ago. It was the wee hours on our way to Santa Fe. I had my daughter stop when I got reception so I could enter the Lincoln Half marathon when entries opened. We got to the hotel at 3 am. The next morning 10,000 entries were sold out. The same thing happened for many races. They still sell out, but usually not in the first night anymore.
  24. Very sorry. I know this becoming more frequent for all of us as we get older. Doesn’t make it any easier.
