I woke up at 6:30 am because we had an alarm clock set to go off then. WoJSTL has physical therapy at 7:30 am. Otherwise I'd probably had slept a while longer.

They've been sighted in our area for the past two weeks. I have two feeders up but haven't seen any. Our new home is pretty far from woods and any flowers. We used to have 4 regulars at our old home.

On the downside, a squirrel jumped under my front wheel, and it died. Sadly another squirrel was sniffing around it. I hope that it wasn't its mate.

I had a brother-in-law who declared bankruptcy twice and he had a good job. He just liked to spend more money than he made. He once bought a house and never made a payment. He lived there for two years for free.

We recently moved from a 4-bedroom to a 3-bedroom house. However, the 3-bedroom has a finished basement so it's actually bigger. A young couple with two children moved into the old place. The old place had the bedroom upstairs while the new place has the bedrooms on the main floor. That will help as we get older. The basement is a good hiding place during tornadoes.

That's 16.16 shootings a year. However consider that there are about 130,930 public K-12 schools in the USA. Add in private schools, trade schools, colleges, and universities. Let's call it 150,000 schools. While 16 or more school shootings in a year is too many, it's not the panic the news media makes of it.

You're assuming that I had meaning in my life before retirement? I earned a paycheck for 52 years. Often more than one as I had part time jobs. During that time there were only 2 weeks when I didn't have a job and that was of my own choosing. I saved for retirement and to be honest, I was burnt out from working. I was no longer giving it my best. I was ready to retire. As far as meaning and purpose are concerned, I earned my retirement and I'm enjoying it. WoJSTL and I have gone on many vacations and bike trips. We spend more time with the grandsons. I've also read a lot of books. I have no trouble filling my idle time even it if it's just watching birds at the feeders. Occasionally, I get a job offer and think "I could be making great money". Then I mentally slap myself and remember that I have enough money and too little time in my life (like 20+ years) to enjoy it.
