  1. My back hurts after seeing that.
  2. In many places, such as LA and San Francisco, it's about impossible to build affordable housing due to zoning laws. Lots of NIMBY going on. Then there's things like rent control which makes it uneconomical to even try.
  3. I rode on Conti GP4000s for years in 25s. The 5000 25s are noticeably smaller.
  4. Chrysler vans with stow and go seating are great for hauling tandems.
  5. 14 miles with WoJSTL on the tandem. Finished the C&O. Missed parts of it due to heavy rain yesterday and White's Ferry being closed today.
  6. But who could afford the 🍕 then?
  7. Sag shuttle. Sleeping in hotels. Not really roughing it. WoJSTL is liking it.
  8. 0 miles today. Raining a lot on the C&O with flash flood watches. Plus it's cool with temps in the 60s F.
  9. Yep. We did cut two days short on the GAP as the tandem is a slow beast. Also skipping today as it's raining hard with flash flood watches. All told we will do about 70% of both of them.
  10. Finish the C&O on Saturday. Drve to Cincinnati on Sunday.
  11. 39.5 miles on the C&O with WoJSTL. Muddy in places.
  12. He's at the doctor's office with a bad case of cat scratch fever.
  13. Love okra. Thanks for the recipe.
  14. 42 miles on the C&O with WoJSTL on the tandem.
  15. 48 miles with WoJSTL on the tandem. We are on the C&O Trail now. When we got to the Paw Paw tunnel, I rode through it standing on the handlebars like Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic. WoJSTL had to pedal twice as hard. Of course I am lying about that. Walking through the tunnel pushing the tandem was hard enough.
  16. I broke a tooth last week the day before leaving for vacation. Fortunately there is little pain. I'm scheduled for a dentist appointment on the 17th. The only reason I'm not looking forward to it is that I don't have dental insurance. So far paying out of pocket has been much cheaper. The dentist gives a nice discount if paying cash.
  17. 44 miles on the GAP riding the tandem. Last 20 miles downhill. We did skip parts of the GAP. The tandem is slow. The tour organizers have what I think is a brilliant plan. They have different length options. If you want to ride 44 miles instead of the scheduled 72 miles, they drop you off 44 miles from the end.
  18. Thanks all. As I have said before, WoJSTL and I are riding the GAP and C&O. Second day today. Last 20 miles was downhill. That was a nice present.
  19. Riding the GAP and C&O. That should keep me busy.
  20. 42 miles on the GAP riding the tandem. Great place to ride.
  21. WoJSTL and I walked and rode 25 miles touring Pittsburgh. GAPCO Ride starts tomorrow.
  22. After dealing with such issues with parents and in-laws, I hope to be more reasonable than they were. We've already thrown away, sold, or donated literally a ton of stuff so that our kids will have less of a mess. I gave my son all the information he would need about our investments.
