My toilet seat is up pretty much all the time.  I typically don't make plans to do anything, I just do what I feel like doing at the time.  I cook and eat what I want, when I want.  It's my choice of music and tv shows all the time.  My house, and everything in it, is mine.

The down side?  Sometimes, after I leave work, I won't talk to anyone at all until I'm back at work the next day.  Sometimes, though not very often, that will span a weekend.

    My dog is great.

My cat is great. We do things together, like putting out seeds for the woodland creatures.

I gather they still open the chest cavity, and thus he is facing a long recovery period as did my other friend. That is better than the alternative he was facing. Doctors continually told him they did not how he was still alive. He led a very active life style.

    Man, that's rough.

I like that your friend defied the odds

Got a phone call this afternoon reporting that the surgery went well and recovery is going well. He is still in ICU and will be for a few more days. Thank you for your prayers and positive thoughts.

Do they still open the chest cavity for that, or is that method old school now?

So far nice, but nothing too exciting.  I probably won't travel that much more than I did before, but now I won't be checking work email while I'm on vacation!

I've mainly been doing all those chores and errands that I've put off for years, including the 120K car service and decluttering.  But catching up on everything will take some time, so I'm not going nuts but trying to do at least one "to do" a day.  But it's nice to be able to have a more flexible schedule if something comes up (such as someone needing transportation to a doctor's appointment) or if I want to meet up with some friends for lunch. Also, I retired close to the start of winter, so it's been a good time to hibernate.  Once the weather is nicer, I'm more inclined to do some local day trips in the area.

    I like this.
