  1. It’s Friday, he only stops home long enough to shower, splash on some cologne, grab a pack of his favorite gum and head for some dive bar to try and get lucky.
  2. RG says don’t buy this gum, it tastes like rubber.
  3. Yep wet boots can’t be saved, even if it’s your fault they got wet. Does this guy get paid a living wage?
  4. My wife is working tomorrow so I’m thinking maybe a bike ride. It’s supposed to be cloudy and get up into the mid thirties. I should be ok on the temp except for my fingers. I don’t have a good pair of cold weather cycling gloves. If my fingers get too cold the ride will turn into a pub ride. No shortage of pubs in my area.
  5. I never opened that thread. I was hoping it would get moved but no big deal I just avoided it.
  6. Lol, I watched Amy’s video twice yesterday but didn’t exactly follow her advise. I had a caffeinated beverage before I went to the gym. Drank a bottle of water during my gym workout and then did the bike and run back to back. I don’t go straight to the bike and run after the swim because the run makes me into a disgusting sweatball and I want to go straight to the shower from the run.
  7. Can’t, I’m training for an indoor mini-tri and these stupid bikes determine the miles off of crank speed only, you can add resistance but all it does is make you slower. I won’t touch these bikes again until next year after the tri.
  8. I’m retired and home from the gym so I read the whole thing. Parr8 will be in later to ask for cliff notes. I don’t think my wife has ever asked me to go to a meeting where there would be controversy. Bike trails don’t have to be paved to attract homeless, just ask Petite about the C&O.
  9. I’m learning I can spin the pedals faster than I thought I could. Running is still evil
  10. The big guys were hitting the weights pretty hard before they went to work today. I didn’t video them, posted this instead.
  11. The resolutioners are running out of gas.
  12. I expected this thread to be exactly like this. I skipped over it all day but finally had to look.
  13. Old age or my leukemia has caused me to sweat more on hard hot efforts. I'm going to have to keep an eye on that this summer.
  14. They would clunk around too much in the dryer, put them in the oven and set it at a low temp before you go to bed. They will be dry by morning.
  15. I have a three season room with my hot tub in it. When I retired I finally ran duct work out to the three season room off the wood furnace. It stays nice in there now even though the windows leave a lot to be desired. I should have inquired about a four season room when I had that built.
  16. I have always done well in heat. Good thing working in a forge shop. Someone brought in a big thermometer one time because they were bitching about the heat. Management got rid of it right away. They didn’t want anyone to know how hot it was. At the time they took it down it was reading 140. It was about two feet above my head, probably ten degrees less down closer to the floor. I used a lot of water to stay cool. Some guys didn’t want to get wet, they didn’t last long on that job.
  17. That’s the stuff they gave us at the forge shop. I’ve seen guys open them four at a time and mix them in a big jug. They would suck down that many every hour during an eight hour shift. I usually only did two an hour.
  18. She is only talking about the nutrition for the endurance effort. She eats well when not doing an endurance event or training. Carrying chef’s meals on the bike or run is real inconvient. Everything she eats year round is planned fuel with a purpose. She has three daughters that are real athletes in their own right. She was a school teacher up until a few years ago she went full time in sports.
  19. I have a hard time thinking of square wheels as somewhat of a noob but he has said he is still on his first bike. We need to send Smudge out there to teach him a few things. I hope he can separate the smartazz comments from the real ones. Square guy, you do have a tool for pushing out the pins in your chain don’t you? If not you should get one. You can get them as a separate tool or part of a multi-tool. i still have a feeling he’s pulling our leg but not everyone has the same life experiences.
  20. I remember parr8’s shorts at the finish line of his Ironman. They started out black shorts but were white with salt from dried sweat. I have seen Amy in videos at the end of an Ironman and have seen her back here shortly after a race. She acts like she just had a day at the park. Evidently she understands the science behind all this. I don’t know how much a body can fuel off fat during an endurance event. Amy doesn’t have any so she has to fuel properly.
  21. That guy is too scary I like Jadyn’s version better. She reminds me of my granddaughters.
  22. You can use a quick link in a Shimano chain or you can just push a pin out and put a new one in. I carry both quick links and new pins in my seat bag but I never remove my chain except to replace it.
