  1. Hello TH III, I tip the scales at around 207 so crosswind is not much of a factor with me. BTW I ordered the "CLYDESDALE" version of these wheels. That includes four extra spokes in the rear and two extra spokes in the front. Thanks for the kudos on the bike, she is a head turner that one!! Oh I almost forgot, the best part about these wheels is the PRICE TAG!! 60mm wheels with clydesdale build and Campy freehub for LESS than a GRAND!! Get them while they last!! Here is my order: Product Model: Front FLO 60 - FLO Sticker Color: Red - Bearings: EZO Stainless Steel - Build: Clydesdale (<242lbs) Front FLO 60 $424.00 1 $424.00 Rear FLO 60 - FLO Sticker Color: Red - Bearings/Build: EZO Stainless Steel/Clydesdale Build (<242lbs) - Cassette: Campy 9/10/11 Speed Rear FLO 60 $504.00 Sub-Total: $928.00 FedEx Ground: $27.63 Total: $955.63
  2. This is a ride report on my FLo 60's which I finally was able to ride yesterday 09 NOV 2014. I have been cycling seriously since January 2008. I have done some very impressive and long multi-day rides in the past 6 years. Three RAGBRAI's(seven days/480 miles), FOUR Vueltas of Puerto Rico(three days/ 375 miles around the entire coast of Puerto Rico), and numerous MS150'S in the Houston, Texas area. I have gotten pretty good at determing how fast I go based on the cadence displayed on my computer. I say this because this is how I established a CONTROL comparison against the FLO 60's. With my previous wheels, the Pinarello MOst Chall( around 35mm deep) the stock wheels that came with my bike. I would ride my big chainring (50T) with my 16T cog in the rear. In order to get to 20mph with that setup I would have to do 88RPM on the cadence. Only when I got to 20mph I would start to feel the "aero" effect(It gets easier to pedal and you don't have to work as hard to maintain it). How do I know this you ask? Because the 50/16 combination just happens to be my favorite gear. I have actually worn out the 16T cog quicker than all the other ones in my cassette! Now for the amazing results with the FLO 60's: The "MAGIC NUMBER" is 18MPH: That is the speed at which I start to feel the "AERO" effect on the FLO 60's!! CADENCE AT 20mph: 80RPM(This is NOT a TYPO!) 80RPM@20MPH!! At first I thought I was in the wrong gear but no, there it was on the 16T. Then I thought, "there must be a tailwind" so I turned around and THEN there was a tailwind!! 21.7MPH@80RPM. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!! When I got into the drops and started to really hammer the pedals I got to my usual 88RPM cadence and I was FLYING at 23.6MPH so I recorded a 3.6MPH gain on the FLO's at 88RPM and a cadence SAVINGS of 8Revs Per Minute!! That comes out to 480Revs Savings each hour!! SO, what's the conclusion here? That the FLO 60's will make you QUICKER and maybe FASTER and save you a bunch of watts in the long run!! Watts you can call upon when you're almost to the finish line!! I have attached a picture of my bike with the new wheelset! There you have it folks, for what it's worth. Regards, Luis Munoz Proud Newest member of the FLO Cycling family!!
  3. This is by far what has worked best for me!! Much less expensive than Chammy Butter!! Available at nearly every Walgreens!! You put in on your "nether regions" just like using speed stick! Voila!! No more chafing!! Ergo, no more saddle sores!!
  4. Hello Everyone! Long time no post! I have a very big event coming up next January. It's La Vuelta Puerto Rico, perhaps you've heard of it, www.vueltapr.com . I am a four year veteran of this ride and every year the two big climbs on this event kick my ass!! Now I'm not exactly a small person, at 5'9" and 205lbs and a 34 inch waist I'm considerd a "clydesdale" in the cycling community. I plan on being around 180lbs by event date! A bit more about this "ride". It's three days and 375 miles, day one is 155 miles, day two is 80 miles, and day three is 131 miles. There is a limit of 600 riders and they are split into three groups. Group A is for the hammerheads and world class cyclists, they AVERAGE 25+mph for the ENTIRE ride. Group B averages 20-25mph for the ENTIRE ride, and Group C averages 15-20mph for the ENTIRE ride. I train for Group A but I ride in C! Now, about these 2 nasty climbs: Climb One comes at mile 92 of day one! You will go from 32 feet in elevation to a little over 600 feet in about 1.25 miles with the last pitch at well over 15% grade!! Climb Two comes at mile 60 of day three. This one is not as long but you go from around 26 feet to 300 feet in a half mile with the last 200 meters at 21% grade!! Now that you have all the data, here are my questions: Could I add a 30T cog to my 12T-25T cassette by eliminating the 13T cog? Would I have to add more links to my chain which right now has 105 links(yes I counted them all!) and how many? Can the chain make the jump from the 25T to the 30T without issue? I'm thinking of eliminating the 13T cog to make room for the 30T cog so then I would end up with these gears: 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 30, and my 50/34 compact in front. I look forward to your comments!! Regards, Luis
  5. I have a CycleOps Fluid 2 which I got for a STEAL(65.00US) on Craiglslist! Great deals to be had there on trianers, people get tired of them or don't use them and want to get rid of them.
  6. Pardon the obvious fix here but a pair of these with some cutouts for the cleat would fit the bill nicely!
  7. Did anyone else catch the faux pas on the bicycle they used as a prop? It had regular cable brakes! Back in 1938 there were no cable brakes on bicycles yet, they were mechanical lever actuated. Like the 1938 Adler shown here: Also I couldn't tell but I could almost make out a "dork disc" on that rear wheel!!
  8. Just signed up at STRAVA yesterday! http://app.strava.com/athletes/3464170
  9. Thank you!! It was awesome, did another 15 on the 4th and 5th!!
  10. In the words of Peter Parker in "Spiderman"- "I'm sorry, I don't see the part where that's my problem." How's that Hope and Change working for ya?
  11. Evidently the second to last generation of individuals in this country never heeded the warnings which were given to them AD NAUSEAUM throughout their formative years. "Stay in school!" "Get an education" "Don't get pregnant at 16" "Aim high". End result, we now have a demographic whose average age is 25 and are heads of households working in positions which have been traditionally filled by teenage kids who still live at home or who are attending college. For some reason that escapes me, these people think that they can get the big bucks without having the marketable skills required to achieve this. They feel "entitled" to a 100% pay raise, well defecate in one hand and want in the other and see which one fills up faster! I don't see them protesting on the set of "Good Morning America"!! Good luck with that pay raise thing!
  12. Sure, what the heck. But you bring your Roubaix!!
  13. Thank you Jerry! A lot has to do with the surgeon that does the procedure. Dr Kreuzer here in Houston uses the anterioir approach and he knows his stuff!! Only doc who does that type of surgical approach around these parts. Here's his web page www.stefankreuzermd.com
  14. Come on down to Houston! I'll be off work yet until the 18th!
  15. YAY!! 15 miles!!! But not just ANY 15 miles friends and neighbors! My FIRST 15 miles since my hip replacement on September 18, 2013!! No pain, no discomfort, just blissful pedaling in 80 degree weather here in Houston!! Here's the finished product: My new bionic left hip!
