  1. Was this dish shared? You must have hit Thunder Bay on your journey to another place. I was in Thunder Bay about... 28 yrs. ago. Flew in to give a presentation. I tend to want more pizzaz in my dishes. We had gooeyer cheese drizzled all over ..with the gravy too. I enjoy cheese curds separately when made from quality cheese. There's a place in Pike's Market, Seattle that churns it out...
  2. I'm not keen to buy a whole big Timmie's flat pizza to try. Product might sell better in hinterlands of suburbia where there are less independent restaurants, or along highway in the middle of nowhere and one needs to hunker over for a hr. cause it's rainy, snowy or late evening. Or for office parties to order from 1 place because of convenience: carafe of coffee, pre-cut flat pizzas and donuts/muffins cut in half/timbits. I can see that working out well for small cheap office parties.
  3. I am aware ...because part of my job was aimed on working with dept. on improving corporate retention policy.. over 1 yr. for our records...including video surveillance. Challenge is ensuring staff report the incident ASAP so the original tape can be pulled. Some cameras auto-overwrite after xx days: ie. transit. However with huge public awareness of video shots posted online and public taking videos of iphone incidents themselves, security staff are probably on it faster than ie. decades ago.
  4. ...no, not for an attack. For 2 years, testing Tim Horton's additional new product offering: flat pizza. Tim Hortons launches pizza nationally in bid to ‘stretch the brand’ to afternoon, evening customers - The Globe and Mail It seemed they didn't test flat pizza variations, at all Tim Horton's outlets in Calgary. What I saw while in test location several times, were alot offfice workers plus construction folks and street shoppers, some tourists. Other test cities were: Winnipeg & Mississauga. Vancouver, Toronto were not selected for testing. Probably because demographics in those cities, aren't totally representative for whole of Canada. That's why flat pizza offerings in the end, aren't very spicy: it reflects widest customer base. Thank you. I've said my piece since I lived in those 2 other cities also.
  5. No, Tim's doesn't sell it. Must have had poutine @Whistler when a sister and her family with kids, visited us in Vancouver. That was a very long time ago. Another life. Poutine is sorta thing that's fun to share with kids.
  6. So solved missing gold bars' heist..1 yr. later. it was an internal job involving Air Canada employees in cargo area. It must have been intense surveillance video camera reviews by police within 4 wk. period. Probably around-the-clock work to piece altogether truck route from 225 cameras. My brain was trying to figure out how on earth was all the different camera footage from Apr. 2023 was even kept. It is very difficult to store all that for a long time since it does require lots of server memory. However police might have arrangements with private security companies. On the afternoon of April 17, 2023, the precious cargo arrived on an Air Canada flight from Zurich and was moved to the airline’s warehouse next to the airport. Soon after, the driver of a white five-tonne truck backed up to the warehouse loading dock and presented a fake waybill. The container holding the gold – 6,600 bars – and cash was forklifted onto the truck. “The suspect then drives away,” Det. Mavity said. Over the next four weeks, investigators tracked the truck’s path northwest of the city using cameras from 225 businesses and residences. Police soon identified the suspected driver as Durante King-Mclean, a 25-year-old man from Brampton, but could not find him. He was stopped in September by Pennsylvania State Police for a traffic violation while driving a rented car with the 65 guns inside. Six arrested in gold and cash heist at Toronto’s Pearson Airport - The Globe and Mail
  7. Wow. So sorry goldendesign. Hope you land a great whopper of a fish for next job. Is your wife working?
  8. Ok, I'm not as drawn to ancient Roman ruins in Italy. We didn't have enough time in Rome and to me, very big and crowded. It would require a certain amount of days. I did go to the Vatican and yes, it's worthwhile. I need to see Florence again for 2-3 days at least. Germany: Instead, fly into Frankfurt. Take train to Karlsruhle or go to Freiburg. You can bike across the border only 30 km. from Karslruhle to Strausborg in France. This is the wine region in Germany which has more small medieval, Renaissance towns, etc. Very scenic. I'm not into beer traditions as shown in Bavaria in Munich, etc. I did go to Munich to some beer hall. Not really that interesting to me....vs. German wine and dinner in quality German restaurant. Prague is amazing...so many layers of building architectural history in small downtown area. Ranging from medieval to art nouveau. It is mind-boggling architectural history variety. Which also includes very old large cathedrals, etc. 900 Years of Architectural Legacy: Why Prague is a Royal Empress – Cycle Write Blog (wordpress.com) Croatia one day. Don't know when.
  9. Ok. That is complicated. She WILL have to change her eating habits. ...because I did. Still more work because of sweets.
  10. Your sister ... hope she finds a different way to buckle down to lose. It is a long process. Each person can find their own way to lose it. How many lbs. did she want to lose? Looking back, most people would think I was perpetually healthy and home-free. If they knew my cycling lifestyle...and slowing cutting back meat, rice, alot of breads, etc. this food eating habit change took me a decade. I didn't push myself..because no need to do that since I wasn't in a health emergency. because my mother had 6 children, losing weight became difficult after 4th-6th children. It is only within the last 5 years, she's lost 25 lbs. due partially to age but also eating less white rice, cutting down other carbs. Integrating yogurt (big move) in diet, less meat. Also age is weakening her and probably loss of some muscle mass. She never took any drug for weight loss. But takes high blood pressure drug for past 30 yrs. She has never exercised...outside of housework and used to walk more. She is 90 yrs.
  11. Can you continue in retirement? What is your personal objective?
  12. Are there any long-term negative effects of Ozempic /similar drugs? AFter taking them for several consecutive yrs.?
  13. For big employers with FTE employees, they do assign staff as fire wardens per floor section. The speed is what counts if there should be REAL fire. The problem is some employees just dilly-dally, not believing. I was in another 12-storey office bldg. evacuation for a meeting. I was amazed to see a wheel-chair bound employee in a sports light oriented wheelchair, who DID manage to lower himself down multiple flights of steps. I think he trained himself physically to do this (!) in advance. It was quite impressive... after all, I did work in a hospital for wheelchair bound patients. We were in 2-level hospital.
  14. How I explain to some locals here (especially those living in small towns/very car dependent): Get familiar using our local LRT system in CAnada's big cities and enjoy travelling our big cities first. Then your transition travelling in Europe and parts of Asia using their train systems ,...will be so much easier for you. Less car dependency. For sure, I've converted 1 long-time friend who grew up in town of 2,000 and now works in city of 30,000. She willingly travels to Toronto on her own, with variations along the way to other small cities by train. Every time she visited Toronto to see me, I would plan for us to use the subway train system to certain interesting things to do/see and find places to eat.
  15. The last 2 condo blgs. (including present) I bought a home, below 8th floors. It is precisely for easier evacuation and return when elevator doesn't work. With age, this will not get easier. THere was a fire in my Toronto condo bldg., where the smoke from above floors were seeping into my suite! I got out. The hallway air was grey with smoke. I worked in fire protection engineering and firefighting library with a ton of technical information and studies of evacuations...including tragedies world-wide of people stuck/trampled to death.
  16. For another govn't building in Ontario, there was a bomb threat. Real or not, we had to evacuate. Then 1 of elevator got stuck justs before fire alarm. And the Deputy Fire Marshal was in there with some others! For my last employer, there were a number of protest rallies with crowds chanting, signs, etc. in front of our bldg. The bldg. is beside city hall. This happened for different causes, well over 15 times annually. So more police are around. Working in govn't is a smooth ride.... yea, sure for some people. Not all. I just don't mention this stuff here in the past.
  17. I don't think she sings her French language songs in English (maybe others do), but she doesn't. I'm not surprised. The spirit of the song and word translation in music, is not the same since some words don't translate the same in spirit... and musical rhythm.
  18. Am listening to French-only songs by Celine Dion. Remember, as a Canadian she was known by the Francophone world first / lot more, before her English diva hits. She was honored by President of France, for increasing worldwide awareness of the French language via her songs. When pasting French song titles into Youtube (or probably any non-English language), you will get commercials in that language. So to me: like watching French language TV in Canada. **If there are English words in the search in addition to French, commercials default to English.
  19. At my workplace, practice evacuations were twice annually. Govn't office building of 2,000 employees. We did have mentally unfit member of public get into main floor foyer and set several little fires inside. Person also had a knife. This was early in morning. It activated sprinkler system also. Anyway, damage was well over $1 million. Around 2 yrs. ago. Any public building, where there are tons of public streaming through for different reasons, including front counter services has same level of risk as semi-industrial site.
  20. 17 trips outside of Canada + probably 20 different trips to Washington state. 17 number included about 10 different separate trips to other U.S. states. (Vermont, NH, NM, RI, MA, CA, MD, Michigan, MT, Illinois, Hawai'i). Remaining to Europe and Asia. Then many different trips in different parts of Canada. Some day trips which gets more interesting, if it's all cycling the whole day. Or combining with of 1 following: plane, train or bus...cause Canada is way too big for a full-time working cycling person. No doubt, Wilbur is going to trounce us all with work blending into tripping.
  21. I'm sure she might be on surface, entertaining to your in-laws who aren't aware of her annoying tactics known by yourself and wifey.
  22. This is my common problem at this time. However there was a point in life few yrs. back, I could only sleep 1-2 hrs./night. Just terrible.
  23. Have good and bad habits. Bad: looking at my iphone before I sleep. Not advised because of the blue light which keeps brain awake. Better: Take shower a few hrs. before bed. My hair has to naturally dry. Do some exercises -Should do this more consistently. Listen to some music -certain music relaxes or is cathartic to me. Read a real book - only less than 1 hr. Usually around 1/2 hr. Keep rm. temp. not too warm. That I have at 1-2 activities that enjoy doing during waking hrs. in my life...at any time in life.
  24. Newish video: Andreas Bocelli sings with his son, Matteo. It is of course sweeping, big gestured. Lyrics in English - from Sarah Brightman. Who sings same duet in different video. When I am alone, I sit and dream And when I dream the words are missing Yes, I know that in a room so full of light That all the light is missing But I don't see you with me, with me Close up the windows, bring the sun to my room Through the door you've opened Close inside of me the light you see That you met in the darkness Time to say goodbye Horizons are never far Would I have to find them alone? Without true light of my own with you I will go on ships overseas That I now know No, they don't exist anymore It's time to say goodbye When you were so far away I sit alone and dreamt of the horizon Then I know that you are here with me Building bridges over land and sea Shine a blinding light for you and me To see, for us to be Time to say goodbye Horizons are never far Would I have to find them alone? Without true light of my own with you I will go on ships overseas That I now know No, they don't exist anymore Without true light of my own with you I will go, horizons are never far Would I have to find them alone? Without true light of my own with you I will go on ships overseas That I now know No, they don't exist anymore I love you
