  1. Chain and cassette installed at 17,325 miles. Not the first in that time frame mind you, probably the third cassette, fourth chain.
  2. Implementing Enterprise Risk Management for school.
  3. Or Patsy Cline’s Walkin’ after Midnight. At 12:23 Sunday morning I got a call from BV, mom’s assisted living place. Apparently, Mom went for a walk out the front door last night. She had her walker and was wearing pajamas and was barefoot. This was between 11 and midnight. Opening the front doors sets off an alarm unless you have a code. The alarm went off. Mom reaches the street that BV is in on and went down the sidewalk. Fortunately, the first passing car was a cop who stopped and asked he what she was doing. Mom didn’t have an answer and by then the aides from BV came up looking for whomever set off the alarm. Mom went back to BV and was put to bed. Today, the director called and said Mom is moving to the 3rd floor memory care unit where she can’t just leave the building like that. JFC mom. She fell again today and went to the ER because her back hurt. Nothing broken but this is the 5th fall and fourth trip to the ER in a month. I need mom bubble wrap.
  4. My LBS used to limit customers one per employee. They’ve done away with that but everyone must mask up. Trek’s warehouses are WI, NJ and CA. They generally ship the same day you order. We get them in two to three days.
  5. Kicking ass and taking names. On average, our Saturdays from March through now have been the same as the best weekends in July/August. Bike sales are setting records this year.
  6. Don’t forget when she tore her knee up while schralping and rescued her own self from deep in the UP woods. Pretty badass
  7. No pictures but someone may want to tell him as he’s sitting out front facing the street.
  8. It's perfect for an introvert like me. I'm fine staying home and not going out. I'm not scared or nothing even though I am in the at-risk group. Covid would kill my Mom and sister if they got it, and they are susceptible as they are in assisted living facilities. I don't miss eating out but my wife does. She prefers take out but will eat outside if available. She will not eat indoors anymore no matter what.
  9. She is referring to pre-Covid. You may not understand but people were assholes before Covid.
  10. Not everyone has to. I preach to convince those who can, to step up. Only ten percent of the population CAN donate. Of those, only thirty percent do. That's three per one hundred. There are many who want to but aren't permitted to. @Longjohn because he beat cancer, @Airehead and @Chris... because they lived too long in the land of the Mad Cows. They would donate if they could, but they're turned away. You don't know the number of prostitutes I had to turn down to keep donating. Their hearts were broken, but I had the babies to think about.
  11. The turkey factory farming industry is out of control. We created the Thanksgiving = Turkey scenario when it didn't have to be like that. The focus should be on building connections to recognize what we are thankful for and giving thanks for those things. You can do that with lasagne, enchiladas, pancit, sushi, jambalaya, and any cultural dish that you use to celebrate you. As an Irish-Scot-American hybrid I could celebrate with haggis, corned beef and cabbage, or chili dogs. Its not aboot the menu, its aboot spending time with those you love. Nate would appreciate the rant.
  12. I'm the other side of the spectum. My veins have been called interstate highways and sewer pipes. I didn't appreciate the reference until she explained that my veins were like those large diameter concrete pipes. Those are storm drains lady, that sounds much better than sewer pipes. You are drawing my blood to save lives; sewer pipes is not the correct analogy for this.
  13. And often, you forgot to add often. It’s good I’m here for you.
  14. That’s sticking to yourself! Keep up the good work. Don’t accept mediocrity anywhere
  15. Then leave yourself a bad review on Yelp. “One star-I’d rate lower but it’s not possible. Terrible burger, even the lettuce was tough. No beer, just Zima. no ambiance and rude staff. “
  16. Cook it in a few tablespoons of bacon fat silly. NYC is making you soft in the head.
  17. The article said that the offender is from Dumfries. I believe that he is from the area between Dumfries and Manassas, aka Dumassas.
  18. It’s not just NYC, it’s also states like Florida with no income tax that rely on tourist dollars to support state spending. They are getting hammered with a cut in income and little reduction in spending. At a time when environmental changes are demanding more resources.
  19. This. Don’t say it won’t affect me because in one way or another it will. When the people get fed up with overtaxation they vote with their feet. Keep an eye on the population of people that are leaving vs coming in. Those that are able to move will. The state will look to make up lost revenue wherever they can. Gas tax, sales tax, property tax, retiree income tax. Tax on marijuana won’t solve all the tax issues in IL.
  20. I’ve read Eric Clapton, Gregg Allman, and Keith Richards work. I’d like to read Levon Helm’s story next. Not until school is done though. My reading time is booked, pun intended.
  21. There’s a state constitution amendment on the ballot on redistricting of voting districts. But I read an opinion piece that the wording doesn’t tell the full story. Read up on the difference between what’s in the amendment and what’s on the ballot. I’d like to see a change in how the districts are drawn up but I’d prefer clarity to what they’re doing.
  22. George Washington Parkway. Ran south from the Beltway to Mount Vernon. The Mount Vernon MUT runs alongside from Key Bridge to Mount Vernon.
  23. We received our absentee ballots last week. We can vote in person at the county government center or drop the absentee ballots in boxes or the mail. I’m waiting for the satellite in person offices to open Oct 14; there’s one near my house. I’d rather vote in person.
  24. That’s a big GTFO of Dodge by sundown notice to me. No thanks.
