  1. When I was younger I always wanted to ride RAMROD (Ride Around Mt Rainier in One Day) a ride sponsored by the Redmond Cycling Club. 150 miles with 10,000 feet of climbing. An east coast version would be the Assault on Mt Mitchell. 102 miles with 11,000 feet of climbing. The first 74 miles aren’t bad at 1 - 5% of gain but the final 30 are from 5% to 12% gain.
  2. Sadly, I missed out on a great deal through the LBS I used to work at. I have no e-bikes in the stable. One or two would be nice though. Specialized offered the LBS employees a very good deal on the Turbo Creo gravel bike. MSRP was around $9,000 and they were offering them for about $2700. Mike and Paul each got one, though Paul settled for aluminum frame and Mike went carbon. He uses it as a commuter bike.
  3. No, you’re correct. The Starbucks was next door AND across the street in addition to the eight others in town.
  4. Correct. And Silent Doug.
  5. The moon covers many things that ought not to be seen.
  6. Is this a repavering or a rebuild process? Will they be adding heating elements underneath to help with wintry traction?
  7. Here’s my manscaping photo. Sorry for the clarity, there was an eclipse at the time.
  8. The VRBO has a built in cleaning fee ($98) and accepts up to three pets. I indicated that a dog is part of the gruppo. Manche doesn’t shed as much as the Labrador as he’s got short hair. We are bringing his crate with us and will probably leave the place better than we found it.
  9. Nope. You are confusing me with @Randomguy, @jsharr, @KrAzY, or some other shit-stirrer.
  10. One of the only things I miss from there. You should take Judie over there sometime. It’s as exciting as visiting Niagara Falls without the barrel ride. At least the bathrooms are.
  11. With the Ohio outlaws. Doug and Janet’s (Mrs Parsnip’s sister) youngest son is getting married at the end of April. We are driving out the 25th and back on the 28th. Lazy-ass Joe, the oldest of the outlaw clan, is not invited to the wedding, so Mrs Parsnip wants to take him out to dinner on Friday night. I found a VRBO near there that is comparable to the cost a hotel room which will work better for three adults and one dog. The house is also within walking distance to a Waffle House and Jungle Jim’s International Market.
  12. Have you been to Portland ME? One of my favorite places to visit. Wicked good lobstah, chowdah, and beeah. (https://www.allagash.com)
  13. Ahh, the old middle finger cactus, caulocacti eff youbori
  14. I've worked at four credit unions. When I left Navy Federal in 2012, their asset size was $50 billion. They are now aboot, $170 billion. I never realized that I was holding them back.
  15. Tomatoes, two sandwich, two Cherokee purple, and one cherry.
  16. Son of Parsnip took this one.
  17. Mostly gone. The trees lining this road are cherry trees. There are a few trees out near us that are still near full bloom but the transition to redbud and dogwood blooms in beginning. I saw my first dogwood in bloom today.
  18. Yep, the Army ten miler is in late September. The Marine Corps Marathon is the 800 lb gorilla on the last Sunday in October. Over 30,000+ runners.
  19. Nope, there were no trash cans out except behind the tables. Empty cups are just tossed on the ground. A sweeper comes down the course and vacuums up all the trash. We packed our own trash out on the event trucks with the tables, Gatorade coolers, and pitchers.
  20. No, runners, like some of your “students” have to learn by the FAFO method of learning. Not my job to do it for them.
