  1. Saw it the other day as cleaning up, but don't see now for quick photo. From my drafting days, compas set, large and small, with extension rods and both graphite and ink drawing ends in a wooden case.
  2. Unless you are a tortoise.
  3. The brought two beers but you only wanted one, so you drank half of each. Now that makes sense.
  4. Which style spring. Torsion spring that mounts across the front wall, or extension springs along the two sides of the garage door? Even myself as an avid DIYer wouldn't tough the torsion spring. One slipup with the lack of day to day practice can take your arm, or worse, off. Extension springs can be dangerous but doable with far less risk. On a similar note, I did change the rollers, but never unmount the bottom roller as it anchors the cable that the spring applies tension to. There is a special technique to change the bottom roller. Because

Great harmony on the remastered album! This is harmony central by design using no instruments other than voice.
  6. Got the shifter on my mountain bike repaired. Total cleanout and re-lube. Now can shift through the entire sequence rather than just 3 in back and 2 in front! Time to go out for a ride this weekend.
  7. The reason you don’t park in front of a fire hydrant. Son texted me, remembering my advice I gave him, and apparently happened in Meriden CT today. Certainly made somebody’s day.
  8. I think that was the big zippers rather than tippers. Had to make room.
  9. Skipping the $525 GM hitch and even the $239 Draw-Tite hitch. Just ordered the Saris Bones EX on sale for $179 that will fit the hatch...and a lot lighter than my Thule Post hitch rack. Supposedly can't raise the rear hatch, but when using, easy enough to access gear from the lowered rear seat. Do question their general statement that can't raise the rear hatch. While obvious with the weight of bikes mounted, but bikes dismounted and just the 11 lb rack? Perhaps wouldn't stay up with the 11 lb weight, crashing down on you as you attempted to retrieve tire pump, helmet, shoes, gloves or other gear. I will miss sitting on the rear of the car to change shoes.
  10. Brakes are hydraulic, in great condition without squeaks and SOOOOOOO much better than the rim brakes on the road bike - that wouldn't stop me when I needed them too.
  11. After the bike accident, wife didn't want me riding, but decided today that the mountain bike was OK. Didn't push the road bike because it is too large for me anyway...which was part of the problem. But get back steady with the mountain bike and then we can talk about an upgrade, probably gravel, on a frame that fits. I did get a new helmet after the accident. Not going to invest in a second set of wheels but will get some slicker tires. Also, need to repair/adjust my shifters. Don't know if cable adjustment or disassembly and clean the pawns. Downshifts but lever to upshift has no effect until fully downshifted, then upshifts only halfway - two sprockets on front and three or four sprockets on rear. Just barely fits in the car. Need to get a trailer hitch which is a job to install, needing to remove bumper trim rather than the simple bolt to frame from underneath. The GM one is nice with a custom plate for bumper trim hitch sticks out of, and the most expensive, but lowest hitch weight of around 100-150lbs. Classic Draw-Tite hidden drops below bumper with a 250-350lb hitch weight which would be good if ever got e-bikes.

    PICNIC!!!

Absolutely, bright and sunny with no wind. Was in mid 50's this AM but climbing to 81 this afternoon. Currently at noon it is 72.
  13. Guinness...the basis of life!
  14. Wife put Guinness in Irish Stew. Only used less than half and I was forced to finish the bottle. Stew was good. Hope we have more. I buy a six pack, she uses half a bottle to flavor the stew. I can handle that.
  15. For years it was the cheap Wranglers, then Costco Kirkland. Usually have two I rotate, and the third “workout” for yard work and other dirty jobs. Another is dedicated to painting for obvious reasons. Before rotating, the primary jeans typically last 3 seasons with little wear during summer. Hardest part is buying - absolutely no stretch fabric, traditional denim only. Last pair I purchased, I splurged with Levi’s for first time in decades. Decent fit but worst pair ever. After two washings, wife thought I snagged a gash in rear. As I looked at it, weak fabric near rear pocket shredding. Ironed a patch inside, yet despite the reinforcement, continued pulling apart after next walk. Added liquid “fabric seam” glue to the reamaing threads above the patch to secure the hole/tear, and inside the edges of the patch that was beginning to roll away. After another wash and remains repaired. So much for premium wear…back to cheap.
  16. If I re-did the countertops to true granite/solid surface, that is what I would put in. When I re-did the kitchen with cabinets and stainless steel hood, I replaced the enameled cast iron with strainless steel, just like all of the new appliances. I cheaped out on the countertops, mainly because the island is 4'x5'. I "painted" the existing countertops with a multi-part stone embeded Daich Spreadstone Countertop coating. SpreadStone Mineral Select Countertop Finishing Kit - Daich Coatings Actually thought about doing the same for garage and patio/walkway surfaces (different product specific to application), but when looking at the instructions was the "second coat" not mentioned in marketing...and doubled the price of what was already at the top price tier. Would look great though! They are a Canadian company with a unique product. I see Home Depot now sells their premium product line, but have no Idea why they don't open a warehouse a few miles away in Buffalo to support the US market - each truckload to warehouse through Customs rather than each individual shipment through Customs together with the UPS/FedEx customs broker fee.
  17. A biblical experience, the wayward sun?
  18. Perhaps you are not fat. It was cheap material and shrunk in the wash. At least, that's my story and I am sticking to it!
  19. THIS! Wife hates shifting to all the remotes. Tried to resolve with Logitech Harmony (and an older Logitech One) universal remote. They continually get lost and have to go into correction mode "Did this correct the problem? Y/N" menu sequence. Finally the one in the bedroom died and went back to the original Panasonic remote and despite not having the "." key for the expanded OTA channels (i.e. 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 etc) works great as 2 takes it to 2.1, then up channel to 2.2, 2.3. Also has an actual "input" button to switch inputs - DVD and Apple TV - rather than an activity menu that invariable got lost (i.e. jumped too many inputs) when changing activity. Wife is happy now! The one in the living Room is controlled by the original "Logitech One" One activity is labeled "Watch TV" which is TV only, the next activity is labeled "Watch TV-HT" which utilizes the Yamaha receiver and speakers, making it convenient to cross compare. Straight TV is louder and harsher, where when connected through the receiver, yes the sound is smoother, but so soft I have to crank up the volume controlled by the receiver. That is why I will simplify when upgrade, building more model cabinetry, then TV with soundbar, then totally separate stereo system, perhaps in another room. With daylight, looked at my Sonus connection to the Panasonic. Sonus - including the current model - doesn't offer optical - which simplifies that, and honestly, have several optical cables in my junk box as always had problems with other applications, and that includes premium cables trying to resolve the issues. Much prefer HDMI. Out TV's are about the same age and amazing how that Samsung owners manual link doesn't include at least one page with overall input/connection diagram or "specifications". With mine, I have 3 HDMI inputs, labeled Input 1 (HDMI-arc), Input 2 (HDIM to DVD), and Input 3 (HDMI to Apple TV) which correspond to the input selection/change menu on the TV screen that also includes other inputs - RCA, USB, etc that don't apply. Obviously, I have the Sonus soundbar hooked up to Input 1 as it required the "arc" designation ("earc" is simply newer technology, but both work). I never have to choose Input one for the speakers as that is automatic irrespective of which other input (Cable/Antenna, Input 2, Input 3) with the initial setup of the Sonus speaker. Finally, the good news. with a 40" set, the 25-28" soundbars are ideal up to 48/55" sets as the longer soundbars are designed for the 55" and higher sets.
  20. Something like this is what I would consider putting in. While this appears to be wood waterproof flooring, would probably lean towards the wood look vinyl floooring 'boards'. 21. As a connoisseur of fine orange juice, pulp is a must. Even better is walking through an orange grove, picking off the tree and with a swirling cut using your pocket knife removing the rind. Bonus points if you can cut it in one continual circular motion and only have one peal! Now enjoy each plug, bursting with the sweet juice and pulp, spitting seeds out if any, and as an added bonus the remaining white albedo fiber that your knife sliced through as you removed the rind. As a kid, I use to row my boat across the lake and do just that. While most of the grove was Valencia for juicing, I knew where a couple Naval trees were as well as a tangerine. And for tartness, some nice grapefruit just off the tree. Absolute swill OJ is "Made from Concentrate". BLAH!
  22. Route 66 and I40 are intertwined with exit offshoots of the original Route 66. Be aware of where you want to get off to tour the original, but think of I40 as the directional route you can't escape. Coming from Colorado - the north rim of grand canyons, but most people think of the south rim. You could see both. The south rim as two approaches from Flagstaff making a big circle - the southern approach and the eastern approach to the Grand Canyons. From Colorado/Utah (4 corners, Lake Powell) it would ne the eastern approach before you reached Flagstaff. There will be many Canyon overlooks before you reach the park. Also on the eastern side, but between your cutoff from US89 to the Canyon and Flagstaff is Sunset Crater and the road over the lava fields (a large detour loop connecting at both ends to US89) also had an overlook section where se the painted desert in the distance (also seen and much closer at Petrified Forest exit on I40). Flagstaff. I know you won't be going as far south on I17 as Phoenix, but consider the red rock county of Sedona. DON'T take I17, but Oak Creek Canyon Rd that parallels it and goes straight to Sedona. Return to Flagstaff and I40/Rt66 on I17. When you get on I17 south of Sedona, consider going south one more exit to Montezuma Castle National Monument (cliff dwelling Indian ruins). It is just off the Interstate. Skip nearby Montezuma Well. As back at Flagstaff and I40 heading east toward New Mexico, Meteor Crater is OK - standing on edge platform looking at giant meteor impact site - Nearby Petrified Forest and the visible painted desert is worth a stop even if you don't hike, but a photo opp.
  23. With one TV I have the classic receiver, bookshelf, center, and sub (no rear channel for 5.1 sound - just 3.1). Doing it over again, I wouldn't...just make the receiver/speakers as dedicated stereo with turntable for vinyl. Would make it much like my bedroom set-up. There I use a soundbar programmed to be the speaker for any combination of inputs (antenna, DVD, Apple TV etc) of the TV. Not fancy, but just the basic soundbar. Avoided Bose like the plague, but there are several competing systems. I bought into the Sonus system and have the Beam (now Beam 2) with no satellites or sub. That alone blew away original speakers on my Panasonic Plasma. With the Sonus system additional speakers can expand the system in the room, or with the wifi connection have speakers in any room for whole home sound. If (when) I upgrade the living room which is much larger with high ceilings. It will be the Sonus Arc which is a standout among premium soundbars and at $899 a bargain compared to other premium soundbars like the $2600 Klipsch Heritage or $2200 Seinhauser.
