  1. And because I like anal-izing things in Excel To me, riding 6000 miles a year is where my bar is set. It's a tough but doable goal. I have records back to 1992 which is when I graduated HS. I remember riding 3500 miles in 2000. That was a milestone for me The years between 2010-15, I worked a lot of overtime...a lot of overtime. I started riding w/ BCC in 2017. And 2019 was the felt-like-crap year because of the tumor and didn't think I'd break 1000 But I kicked ass in 2020
  2. While riding today we stopped at a bakery called Sister Pie. They have pi on their chalk board😁
  3. This one caused me some grief.
  4. My road taars have ≈.023 lbm of air in them at 100 psi

  6. I was reading an article in the National Board Bulletin, a quarterly publication I get from the valve test lab Anywho, the article was on the term "knock-on effects" where one action leads directly to an undesired or often surprising result. In this article the author talked of the Nor Folk Southern derailment in Ohio. The NTSB in their report looked at the safety valves on the tank cars. And they found that there were melted aluminum covers on three cars. The NTSB didn't say the aluminum debris interfered with pressure relief, but aluminum flowed onto the discharge mechanisms of the safety valves. A noticed was sent out by the pipeline & hazardous materials safety administration that it be a good idea to replace aluminum covers w/ carbon steel. Because the tank cars were not relieving pressure, Norfolk elected to breech the tank cars to burn off the vinyl chloride. While this was bad, if they did not do this there would of been a boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion which would been catastrophic. The breech occurred just short of this happening. Good thinking on someone's part I say.
  7. Would have been under a minute except for MINI quirks. An example. College room is DORM So I type in DORM, but the R was already filled on the across portion so mini moves my R fo the M postion. I thought I was done and MINI tells me I am not, so I have to open the puzzle and correct the mistake, which really was not a mistake.
  8. Nope. Haven't owned or used a comb in 30+ yrs. How about you?
  9. ...in that mine are no longer "shreddable" These damn metal cards are NOT shredder friendly. Am I supposed to toss them in a drawer as they expire and are replaced?
  10. Romeo became a part of the sharr clan. We adopted Romeo from a local shelter on sort of a whim. Sparky, our border collie had recently passed away and Ryan and I had gone to the pet store to get crickets for the bearded dragon and stuff for Ryan's guinea pig and there was a dog rescue holding an adoption event. I fell in love with Romeo and the rest is sort of history. Rascal the dachshund has since crossed the rainbow bridge and Romeo now has lots of grey and white hair on his muzzle.
  11. Everyday this week I have heard about a shooting at a school or near a school. And I am part of a program that teaches how to shoot accurately. I have even taken training to make myself better at this. Not sure I want to teach riflery any longer. I have range safety officer training coming up and our April campout is our shooting sports camp out with shotguns and .22 rifles. Not sure how to shove this genie back into his bottle, but things have got to change. Mods and go ahead and kill this thread, as it will not end well. Sorry for posting it.
  12. I ask because as I sit here sipping my Pedialyte and eating some saltines both dogs want some. Remi you see is 70 pounds and he gets a full saltine. Romeo, my nap buddy is about 15 pounds and I give him a portion of a saltine that I’ve eaten most of. discuss
  13. I am NOT a paid spokesman. I get neither money nor potatoe points. The start of a new year is a great time to renew your Square Wheel’s membership or get one for the first time. Do the math— how many posts did you read last year for just $15.00?
  14. ...for the Cafe and all its zaniness. I won't be here tomorrow to offer thanks then, but today, I thank @Square Wheels for hosting this site for all to enjoy! You ROCK! And, really, without @jsharr, this place would be half the fun! Of course, there are plenty of others who rock this joint, but Square and Jsharr are the Brain and the Heart of this place.
  15. I got this email yesterday. Yes I RIDE gravel. I do not run gravel. Not familiar with this gravel road but I surly would not want to run on my gravel roads. Hello Mercer County Trails Association Patrons, Your email is on our bicycle tour email list – or perhaps also from our running races. We are sending this message to let you know about a fun running event we created last year. It is a 6 mile gravel road run along the Shenango River near “Big Bend”. The event is Sunday, November 20th at 9:30. Registration is 8:15. The start and finish area is about ½ mile from where registration is located (see attachment). We are hoping that if you also run in addition to your riding, you may want to join us at this cozy little fun run/race. Hope to see you there! Registration and more details on this link https://www.mctrails.org/race-registrations/creekroadchallenge Thanks Kyle Garner MCTA, Inc. – President/Event Director
  16. Those are really neat. They keep things clean instead of using more wire for a chain of contact points. Clean.
