  2. Buddy's first grooming Maggie needed to give up her appointment so Buddy could get groomed before Christmas. The groomers loved him. I think he kinda has the Paulie "Walnuts" Gualtieri look going. NSFW

    Gus

Milk Bone and Ice Cream! Welcome Gus! We received a capture request a few days ago from a camper who had seen this dog limping around for days at the campground. He was starving and leery of people. He had been seen around other camper's dogs at the camp ground but continued to hobble back to the same spot every day and after checking around the camper learned that the dog had been hanging around for awhile with no owner in sight. The camper felt the dog had likely been abandoned close by since he continued to return to the same spot day after day. The dog's situation became urgent as the camper was scheduled to leave the area today and couldn't stand the thought of leaving "Gus" behind. After reaching out to us we loaded up our best trap, a rotisserie chicken, some sardines and headed in the camper's direction, 2 hours south of Dallas. The best news is by the time we hit the road, after days of encouragement, the camper had gained the trust of the injured dog and lured him into the RV! So, no need to set the trap. Gus, once caught, though still very timid, was easily transferred to our truck and taken to our vet after first stopping for our famous DSDA introductory pup cup & cheeseburger, which always helps make friends and ease the transition! We immediately checked him for a microchip but none found. He was not neutered and unfortunately heartworm positive. He had a big tear in his left front paw pad which was cleaned, glued, and bandaged. He spent last night at our vet and will be scheduled for neuter soon. We will work on leash training over the next few days before he is brought to his foster home. Please consider donating towards Gus' medical care. After decompressing and neuter he will undergo heartworm treatment. The good news is he is young, under 2 years old, so early in the disease process. We will be providing updates on this sweet boy as he continues to gain confidence and progress to a happy healthy boy! A special thank you goes out to the camper who was determined to help Gus and not leave him behind to live out a miserable existence. #dsdagus #makingadifference #fosteringsaveslives
  4. Welcome Lucy!! This stunning puppy was found roaming the streets a few weeks ago. The folks in the area were not being very kind to her as she tried to enter a local market place. A Good Samaritan stepped up and took her in while they looked for a possible owner. We were asked if we could help and because a foster to said YES….we could! Lucy entered our program yesterday and as you can see she is making herself quite comfortable in her foster home. We believe Lucy is between 4-6 months old. She weighs approx 40 lbs. Her ears make up 5 of the 40 lbs! She is a shepherd mix with large paws so she will, most likely, be a big girl. She has been scanned for a microchip and we will have our vet scan again. We will get to know more about this beautiful girl in the coming weeks but so far we know she is incredibly sweet, dog friendly, loves everyone she has met so far, gives kisses and loves to cuddle. Lucy won’t last long so stay tuned for more updates. She will see our veterinarian in the morning for her intake exam.
  5. She was at the kennel so we sprung her today to stay here. Every dog at Aero Airedales is currently nuts.
  6. Martha and Relle went to a shelter this morning to rescue a momma and her puppy. I know momma is a Dashchund of some sort and puppy is gonna be a big furry boy once they get the mange under control I am not sure if this was a no kill shelter or not.
  7. ...and gets this belligerent response:
  8. Finally, an adoption event for @petitepedal!!!! ROAD TRIP!!!!
  9. Remington was a shelter dog. We adopted him a few years back and he spent lots of time with our oldest son Wade. He has an old soul, never really frolicked or played much, spent a lot of time by himself. He would only come within arms reach to be petted, maybe rest his head on your lap while standing in front of you. Fast forward 5 years and Remi is a different dog. He and Romeo have started playing a lot, rough and tumble dog stuff. He comes up and sticks his head under your hand to get scritches. He has started coming up on the couch with me to get scritches and will curl up beside me and place his head in my lap and just hang out, content. While all these changes make me very happy for Remi, it makes me wonder what happened before he came to live with us? Why was he so withdrawn and resist playing and petting and all?
  10. but it was fun while it lasted. Somebody has to work for a living I guess. discus also added an OOG tag so Kirby can say goodbye.

    Brothers

CJ & Smokey are gonna be a hoot together. Smokey is just so gentle with his baby brother and CJ loves to snuggle with his big brother.
  12. Banner outgrew his size large dog crate. They tried shutting him in their bedroom when they go somewhere without him. He did puppy stuff like tear up the toilet paper and dump the trash can and scratch at the door. They decided they needed to buy an extra large dog crate. They found one on Facebook marketplace. Bought it and brought it home and set it up. This thing is huge, you could fit a donkey in there.

    Shania

Shania, a gorgeous Shepherd/Great Pyrenees/Husky(?) mix, is ready for her happily-ever-after fairytale ending! Are you the hero she’s looking for? She’s got the basics of training down (crate and potty) and is so smart, she’ll enjoy ongoing learning. Likely to be 50-70 lbs once full-grown, she needs a home with another playful dog to corral her puppy energy! Please view her entire profile along with adoption requirements at www.dsda.org/adopt Did this cutie just eat an approved snack or steal a treat? We’ll never tell!
  14. Even if you don't like me, it's a dog pic. By SW Forum rules, you are required to give me a like.
  15. These two little boys were tossed over a fence into the yard of a vacant home. Their lucky day came when the owners checked on the house and were shocked to find the brothers there. They don't know how long the pups had been there but they were very thin, hungry, and covered in dirt and fleas. Fortunately their Guardian Angel agreed to foster them and so they are now cleaned up and living in a loving home. We will know more about their age and health after their vet exam this week. But our best guess is they are about 11-12 weeks old and Great Pyrenees mixes FOUND WASHED AND FED TIRED BOYS HAPPY BOYS
  16. Bashful "One Blue Eye Brooks" is looking for the perfect match. He's a deep thinker and will spend more time analyzing any scenario before jumping right in. He must have another dog in his forever home to show him that having fun can be FUN! Although, he's not too shy for kisses!
  17. My dog likes to play a game where I toss treats to her and she runs at a breakneck speed to get them. The first couple she chases down, pounces on, and the eats normally. However, as the fun amps up, she becomes progressively more fast at the consumption portion of the game. She is often back in motion looking for the next treat before she has finished swallowing the prior treat. Of course, this results in a choking fit that is familiar, I am sure, to members of the @Randomguy family every Thanksgiving. She has to stop her running, dislodge the treat, and start over. Luckily, as the game goes on, she also loses a bit of her pep, so the peak choking is mid-game, and tapers as she stops running around like a maniac. How about your pups? Are they nutters too?
