Her father was the Indian Sitar specialist, Ravi Shankar, made famous by the Beatles, though he had nothing to do with her life. When she was a teenager she won a best-in-city high-school musician award in Houston. I buy "authentic" piano sheet music for various pop artists and those of Norah Jones and Elton John are the hardest to play, showing me how skilled they are! That was a little mean, but a good pun is hard to resist, especially when it is also a funny nickname. Another shot at her was taken by Nellie Mackay, who titled her album Get Away From Me, as opposed to Norah's breakoot album, Come Away With Me. Puns, again.
