Popular Post Dottleshead ★ Posted May 24, 2020 Popular Post Share #1 Posted May 24, 2020 Coming down off Stevens Pass we had ourselves a black bear sighting. Really cool. First time in 50 years traveling these mountains I actually saw one along the highway. Lots of dear but no bear. 7 2

Judging by road position, I would say that wasn't the case. There have been plenty of people who lost the car vs bear war. I am sure a simple Youtube search would show stupid people and bears. In 3 seconds, I found one. Stupid people and a bear.

You know that vertical sticky outy thing that your right foot bumps into when you sit in your car? Gently push down on that with your foot.

Wilbur ★ Posted May 24, 2020 Share #11 Posted May 24, 2020 It's kinda like feeling safe in a shed. <falsesenseofsecurity> Bears have ripped doors and portions of roofs of cars and through my own experience, they sure as hell chew and claw their way through a cabin wall in a hurry. Razors Edge ★ Posted May 24, 2020 Share #14 Posted May 24, 2020 We've had a recent sighting in my town. Usually just in the county, but this one made it to Reston.

MickinMD ★ Posted May 24, 2020 Share #16 Posted May 24, 2020 For a while, we were getting a deluge of Black Bears - there was no bear hunting season. Then they reestablished a Black Bear season in 2004 - a 12 year-old girl got the first one. It only lasts from Oct. 21-25 but things are back toward normal. Allen ★ Posted May 24, 2020 Share #20 Posted May 24, 2020 I’ve had them run through camp before, maybe three times. But our bears are small and skittish. They’ll run through camp and up a tree. About twice the size of a big Labrador.
dinneR ★ Posted May 24, 2020 Share #21 Posted May 24, 2020 Bears are smart. 399 showed up this spring with four cubs. She is 24 and has had at least 20 cubs. The belief is her secret to success is hanging around Pilgrim Creek where there are lots of photographers and few male grizzlies. She uses the crowds as her shield. 1

The worst part is the bear was in between a stretch of the highway and rail tracks. I didn't even know the location of the tracks until a train went by while we were shooting -- and it was only like 25 yards away. It was a young bear. It's got a few things to learn.
