You will often hear the term "God given talent' but I think there is God given work ethic that goes with it to become truely great. Watching the first episode of the Last Dance about the Bulls, and Jordan's practice work ethic when at NC..... And read an article not too long ago about how players traded to Pittsburgh Penguins often take 3 to 4 weeks to catch up to the speed of their practices because everyone on the ice is trying to keep up with Crosby who does every drill at max speed. And he is often the first on the ice and the last off.
