I'm just glad she's prepared in case an emergency happens while she's riding! This is really awesome, DH. You are having such an impact not only on her riding but on her confidence. The goal setting skills she's learning through cycling will help her in so many ways as she grows. 2

It is a test of patience for sure. I stay positive and kind, even when she goes about 1 mile an hour. She does try hard. That is all I ask of her. To keep pushing and trying hard. She lives up this steep hill. She rode half of it, yesterday. There are two sections that are not as steep. The great part is that she rode the last section right to her driveway, and her Mom saw her. I was cheering her on the whole time. I thought it was a good ending of the ride. During part of that hill she got very frustrated. I asked her to dig deep and try again. Push the pedals as hard as you can. She said "Ok, I will." She ended up being successful at pedaling the last part right to her home. It was a significant victory. Also, I got her to ride down this steep grass hill that she crashed on last year. She crashed and cried last time. Now, she has a better bike. I said "Will you try this again for me? Do you trust me to follow down me down the grass hill again?" She hesitantly said "OK. I will follow you, again." She made it down. She said it was scary. I told her that scary is fun. She does like the idea of doing things that others won't try. I told her Mother that I am molding a little adrenaline queen. The best thing that she said to me yesterday was that she told me I am a great teacher. Such a cmpliment. 1

Guess 15 and see her reaction. Then go with 5 and see the reaction. But you are doing a GREAT service to her and her mom. Kids should ride bikes, and if a parent doesn't lead that effort, it's really wonderful you stepped in.

I talked to her about the day. She is doing something on Friday too. I guess she is going to a friend's home on Friday. Eleanor says to me. "Hurray. I have two awesome things in a row next week." I guess she does enjoy riding with me. I push her kind of hard, and I wondered if she is really enjoying this or not. I am like "Do this. Do that. Follow me down this steep incline." sheep_herder ★ Posted June 16, 2020 Share #17 Posted June 16, 2020 Little too young to get her a 'bad ass' t-shirt, besides, you already have a 'bad ass' friend. Have fun and keep up the Good Work. You will enjoy watching this young girl grow and mature over the years.
