maddmaxx ★ Posted June 26, 2020 Share #7 Posted June 26, 2020 Or, did you just go in to have a leak investigated and decided to have an oil change too? Was there a leak before? Where did it show up on the garage floor?

petitepedal ★ Posted June 26, 2020 Author Share #10 Posted June 26, 2020 Caliper driver side rear..they are replacing both..as a hydraulic failure..no charge to me. Unfortunately food choices near by are not great didn't want to take a loaner for 40 minutes.. I should have asked to test drive a Miata

Airehead Posted June 26, 2020 Share #13 Posted June 26, 2020 Wait-- you went in with no caliper issue and you came out with one????? Something seems fishy here
maddmaxx ★ Posted June 26, 2020 Share #14 Posted June 26, 2020 Did the caliper fail before or after the brake job? There must be a reason they are being so good about the charge?
Airehead Posted June 26, 2020 Share #15 Posted June 26, 2020 Hydraulic failure , ask them to explain this.
petitepedal ★ Posted June 26, 2020 Author Share #16 Posted June 26, 2020 After the brake job....caliper engaged and failed to un engage he says it happens if the boot is torn and dirt gets in there..but mine was not...who knows..they replaced both rear calipers..the guy said it usually runs about $300 each..not sure if that is an entire brake job plus calipers..but either way it is fixed. Longjohn ★ Posted June 27, 2020 Share #21 Posted June 27, 2020 I replaced a caliper on the Element that may or may not have been hanging up. About a month later it started leaking. I took it back to the parts store and they gave me a new one. They said sometimes the new ones are defective, they are all warrantied. I replaced the neoprene brake hose the second time just to rule that out for sticking caliper. No issues the second time.
