What are your plans for next year?

Hopefully I'll be riding on the Katy Trail around this time of year. My favorite week-long group ride has been cancelled the last 2 years.

Also going to Cardinals baseball games and the Muny Theater again. I hope to take a trip out west as even though I once lived in New Mexico for 4 years, I never took the opportunity to go to the Grand Canyon or Hoover Dam.

OPTIMISTIC answer:  I hope, for one, to get back into the travel & leisure groove again. I lost my Spain trip this year, plus multiple NP camping events so far, so my hope is that we can just take all the planning that went to waste for Spain and transplant it to next year.  Likewise, as my vacation balance is almost full now, I hope to start next year with six weeks of vacation potential and want to use it fully!  I'd also like to find a new gig.  Getting burned out, but the pay is too good for me to just jump ship.  A lot depends on this new WFH trend, and our pay raises coming soon, but I am about maxed out of SSDD (turning into Old#7's SSDY :( ), and think maybe 10 yrs in a job (a record for me) is plenty.

PESSIMISTIC answer: Sheltering in place. Social distancing. Wearing masks. Washing hands. Shaking head at the stupidity of Americans. :(

It will be fun moving back in and refurnishing my rebuilt house.

Vacation plans will be interesting.  Even if things are back to normal, some of those that vacation with me have said they don't trust going to other countries - even though I point out a lot of them are doing more and doing better with COVID-19 than we are.

So I'm guessing we may do a vacation in the USA or Canada.  If things are still relatively restricted by state, we'll probably go to Deep Creek Lake in Western MD again.

Sadly, my plans don't depend on ME trusting the other countries, but rather THEM trusting Americans to enter their countries :(  Lots of existing non-EU traveler restrictions right now, and as their numbers flatten and go down, and ours stay the same or go up, international travel may be "off" even into next year.

I'd like to take some of the trips that I had planned for last year and this year that didn't happen.  Nothing too exotic - within the US, but something that involves a plane.  Any trip this year will be within driving distance.

I would like to work for at least a few more years, but there are a lot of changes happening in the workplace even without reference to the current working from home.   For now,  I'm playing it by ear and trying to be adaptable, but we'll see  how it goes.

I cancelled a London-Paris-Dijon trip this year. I have a Virgin Atlantic voucher & a Paris hotel voucher. Best case I put the trip back together next year in the Spring. Wurst case the EU doesn't let 'mericans in and my vouchers expire unused. Or VA goes bust & I have to rebuy flights.

I will be moving back to Portland area. I am looking for a home now. But...the street I am interested in is only about 2 blocks long & 20 homes. Nothing for sale right now. I have some feelers out. Best case something pops this summer & I buy. then put the Bend home on the market next Spring. Use the time between to move a lot of stuff over. Worst case nobody puts their home up for sale & I wait a year or more. This is a picture of the street i want to buy on

I am thinking on what the next phase of my life will be. The BLM has me thinking that perhaps some Latino rights group could use some help. But that is pretty blurry right now

Next year is both my parent's and my in-laws 60th wedding anniversaries so we will be heading back east for a period of fun and festivities.  With our first grandkid coming in August this year I am sure there we be trips to see them too if my wife has anything to do with it

I believe womaxx has had it with the modern school system.  She's talking of retiring at the beginning of January rather than the end of the next school year.

School systems have changed.  Office workers who handled multiple jobs are being laid off (positions removed) and then the town replaces them with a specialist manager who then hires 1 or more assistants to handle the work now not being done.  It's almost as if corporate culture has discovered town management as a fertile new field.

I had planned to retire from teaching at the end of the next school year because our house would be paid off in December. But, we are finally remodeling the kitchen and two bathrooms. The designer/architect is here right now taking measurements.  So, I am prepared to work for at least one more years to pay for this remodel. I'm in no hurry to leave teaching, so either way it's ok.

That's my plan. Forces beyond my control will probably say differently.

Continue getting the house ready to sell. Watching the job market and economy here and in Maricopa. I’ve been with my company for 14 years. I don’t like the direction some things are going and I’m already distancing emotionally from there. It’s a good time for changes.
I would like to go to Grand Cayman again before our friends have to move. That will require the island to open up and us wanting to fly.

I'm still game for working now.  My hope next year is working from home 50% of time at least if we return to the office. Especially in winter, working from home would be easier. Am thinking more often about retirement but not sure when.   I seem to be learning something new every few days at work...which is a good thing and  positive for brain exercise.

I don't expect to go to Europe as we had planned with now-cancelled tickets. That includes EuroRail tickets. :(  I honestly believe vaccine won't be available widespread in our countries just yet, next year because of logistics, at best.

Other than vAncouver, I don't even see visiting Toronto next year yet.  Just too complicated with still-covid restrictions.

I hope myself and loved ones, are still healthy and alive.

If Wo46 would retire I would like to jump in the motorhome and just travel with no plans on where to go. Do a few more races and if it's on the race schedule race Laguna Seca. Paddle board the caves around the Apostle Islands. We were talking about riding the car ferry to car ferry tour again.
