What if this is only the beginning for this virus?

What if there is never a vaccine?

What if it continuously mutates?

What if most of us die from it?

Why are we assuming thing will get better?

We?  You got a mouse in your pocket?

Hmmm...  I'll guess you never watched a zombie movie.   That's the entire plot of the movie.   And they ALL end badly for the human race.

So we must be in the middle of a 'reality' movie and we just don't know it yet....

A lot of the world seems to have it under control. The US of A is struggling a bit, and I'm beginning to suspect that we will be struggling for a long time.

We hope that exposure and recovery will produce immunity, but we really don't know for sure.

Survival of the fittest will ensue.

It will get better, if you survive. You should get ready for that.

We're Assuming things will get better because it's too scary to think it will get worse and last for years - and pandemics from 1900 on have been relatively short-lived and killed 50 million or less worldwide.

We can also argue that the world is now so overpopulated, running short of fresh water and other resources that if this pandemic doesn't kill most of us, we'll probably end up killing most of each other as the fight for resources becomes desperate. This is why I'm opposed to allowing so many immigrants in that it's projected that most Americans in 2100 won't be related to any Americans of today and why I wish governments would sink a lot of money into research into cheap desalination of salt water and more efficient irrigation (75% of U.S. freshwater use now).  In the early 1900's, farmers in Kansas, etc. had to sink wells 40 feet to reach the Ogallala Reservior.  Now it's over 400 feet.  Some farming experts are warning that "dry farming" may be the way for much of the Midwest in the future.

It's not likely that the virus continues to hit us for more than several years - even based on the Black Plague, etc., though with modern-worldwide-interaction it could wipe out most of us in the worst case scenario.

But it's much more likely to mutate to a lesser or harmless threat, like the Swine Flu, SARS Coronavirus, Spanish Flu, etc. did.
