Ralphie ★ Posted July 12, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2020 This is the first time in ages that I eschewed the sugar cinnamon chocolate chip for the works. The former is more candy than bagel, but it is damn good!

What DD serves is not really a bagel but I have eaten them in a pinch. My homemade bagels are pretty durn good even if I say so myself. Not as good as Brownstein’s however. 1

Square Wheels Posted July 12, 2020 Share #13 Posted July 12, 2020 Au Bon Pain asiago cheese. Size of a frisbee. Right out of the oven, nothing on them. Haven't had one in 15+ years, but boy were they good. 1
shootingstar Posted July 12, 2020 Share #14 Posted July 12, 2020 It depends on the bagel maker. My favourites: everything grain, pumpernickel, jalapeno or sesame. I'm willing to try innovative savoury flavours. Toasted with a small amount of butter or with very light cream cheese with herbs or with lox on top. I'm not oriented to have a sweet bagel. After living in Toronto, where bagel-making began there with the large Jewish local community, then variations, I guess I just like the savoury versions. 1

ChrisL Posted July 12, 2020 Share #16 Posted July 12, 2020 Probably onion but I’m down with anything savory. Not a donut guy but bagels are hard for me to pass up. There is a Cafe/coffee shop near a popular trail head that does a lox bagel I love. Freshly made bagels too. I pile all the lox on one 1/2 of the bagel, top it with thinly sliced red onion & capers & immediately toss the other half. Even then it’s hard for me not to pull it out of the trash & eat it! 2 1 1

Allen ★ Posted July 12, 2020 Share #19 Posted July 12, 2020 Plain, toasted, cream cheese, and a slice of tomato with salt and pepper. If I have access to lox, that’s going on my bagel in lieu of the tomato.
Popular Post Longjohn ★ Posted July 12, 2020 Popular Post Share #20 Posted July 12, 2020 The neighbors had one that was my favorite. He would come around every day and get on the scent of a bunny and follow that scent all around the yard baying the whole time. He was so cute. I don’t think he ever caught one. oh wait, you said bagel, never mind. 4

Scrapr ★ Posted July 12, 2020 Share #22 Posted July 12, 2020 Salt bagel but LCS has skinnied down the bagel selection. First it was take out only but now limited sit down service. When the Covid hit they only ordered about 3 different varieties. Everything, cheese & garlic I think. Now I just let the coffee tender choose a bagel for me *I gave sad faces to everyone else's choice that was not salted bagel

True German pretzels from German bakery don't have salt on top), which is firm, not soft (American) pretzel.
Kirby Posted July 12, 2020 Share #24 Posted July 12, 2020 There's one store around here that sells berry bagels which are mainly cranberry. If we order from there, I'm definitely getting berry. Overall, rye or everything tend to be my favorite, but cinnamon raisin is good if it's a pure breakfast and not brunch. Basically, I'm not that picky when it comes to bagels.

Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted July 12, 2020 Share #28 Posted July 12, 2020 Why are the best bagels from New York City but cream cheese is from Philadelphia? NYC could make a good cream cheese if they tried. @Randomguy?

MickinMD ★ Posted July 13, 2020 Share #32 Posted July 13, 2020 In general I like onion bagels best and that's what I'll get the few times I'm in a bagel shop, but I have a hard time finding them in decent-priced 6 packs. So I generally get Thomas' Everything bagels.
