MoseySusan Posted July 30, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 30, 2020 The clouds cleared away on Tuesday, so I took a drive just northeast to the foothills to see if I could spot comet NEOWISE. There are several areas to park that overlook the entire horizon of the valley. Tuesday night was also peak meteor viewing. And I got lucky. On the way to the overlook spot, a very bright flash of light appeared just to my left and streaked by right in front of me before breaking into two and dissolving over an open space at the base of the mountain. I cannot find the backyard surveillance camera footage local news posted Wednesday. Someone living in that area might have a new rock in their yard. There were comments from all over northern NM and southern CO of seeing these fireballs in the skies. I saw another bright though much smaller and shorter duration meteor streak last night to the south. 1
groupw Posted July 30, 2020 Share #2 Posted July 30, 2020 Sometimes last Friday, I was so busy getting the shots, I didn’t realize how many meteors were falling that night! I saw several wig the naked eye and there were many more in my photos!
