F_in Ray Of Sunshine Posted August 5, 2020 Share #1 Posted August 5, 2020 First, a little background: One branch of the Utica, Ithaca and Elmira Railroad ran from Cazenovia to Canastota. From Caz to Perryville is uphill, but from Perryville the rest of the way to Canastota is downhill. The last part follows the Canastota Creek gorge. It's about a 2% grade and there are thirteen consecutive curves, as it winds it's way down. It's quite pretty, as is evidenced even today, in it's current incarnation as the Link Trail: Now, knowing that, read this little news item from the Caz paper: Gee, thanks, Cazenovia.....we love you too. I shared this item with TK and thanks to him, I now have this lovely railroad depot sign: I's a running joke with us, and anytime I mail him anything, I use "perdition" as the return address - although I've explained that I actually live in Purgatory, because I'm just outside Perdition. 1
