Because there is no air, or very little in the bottle/tube. If a glue bottle is almost empty, the glue may harden because there is more air inside.

Order me some rubber cement, I can't find my bottle :)

You should summon the SW Cafe's resident chemist to the line!  @MickinMD

I will say, most "glue" is crap on plastic and glass.  Gotta go with those "activated" epoxy sorts of things to get a real bond.

There was a couple of kids in my grade school classes who thought the stuff was a delicacy.:wacko:
