Lucky for him it was 1 story onto soft(ish) ground. I can still hear the oomph. I do not want to hear that again
Further Posted August 9, 2020 Share #7 Posted August 9, 2020 That looks like something I'd do. That not necessarily a good thing...
smudge ★ Posted August 9, 2020 Share #8 Posted August 9, 2020 Wow! You obviously have very secure rain gutters to hold that contraption up there! Also glad to see you have a sufficient number of steps on it.

Square Wheels Posted August 9, 2020 Share #11 Posted August 9, 2020 Back in my construction days we did so many stupid things. Ladders on scaffolding with ladders on tops of that. Set the stagging around the outside of the house with the planks sometimes spanning 12 - 14 feet - way up in the air. I cannot believe I came out of it alive. About 10 years ago when we had our roof redone (I did far more roofing than I care to remember), they tied themselves off to clamps they put at the top of the roof. Our front pitch is a 12, nearly impossible to walk up. I was impressed for their concern for their safety.

I used to stand in the roof to paint the stupid trim before I got it capped. That was a royal pita.
2Far ★ Posted August 9, 2020 Share #13 Posted August 9, 2020 Cant see the bottom of the ladder but it needs to be secured at the top or bottom. For transitioning at the top to/from the ladder, there’s a lot of side force & the top of the ladder tends to slide away.

One of them brought seat harnesses for everyone and ropes. I wasn’t planning on using them but it was nice to know we were not going to fall to our death. 1
