Dottleshead ★ Posted August 9, 2020 Share #9 Posted August 9, 2020 What is a TIA? A Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) is often called a mini-stroke, but it’s really a major warning. TIA is a temporary blockage of blood flow to the brain. Since it doesn’t cause permanent damage, it’s often ignored. But this is a big mistake. TIAs may signal a full-blown stroke ahead. jsharr ★ Posted August 9, 2020 Author Share #10 Posted August 9, 2020 We are not sure they are TIAs or another neurological event. Cannot get an answer. Seen two neurologists. CT scans MRI. Some sort of dye procedure and an operation to open a carotid artery have been done in the past
Longjohn ★ Posted August 9, 2020 Share #11 Posted August 9, 2020 I think she needs some kayak therapy. Get her out on that water. 2

Nice facility, great staff, nurses, etc. Just the neurolgoy department sucks. Any know of a good neurologist for TIA that seem to be neurological instead of circulation triggered?
Kzoo Posted August 10, 2020 Share #21 Posted August 10, 2020 Sorry to hear this jsharr. Take care of mom. I know noting of TIA but the 'extensive' medical research I have done with my "Uncle," it doesn't sound like something to mess with.

When we spent several days in the Hospital with my FIL I learned a lot about strokes & TIA’s but didn’t know they could be neurological events. I thought they were vascular.
