But is it real and will it hit that way, or is it just over the ocean or some shithole island and will blow over?

It’s coming into a fairly low population area. But there is an extensive petrochemical industry in the path. So it could possibly cause environmental damage. I am sorry to mislead you. Also Airedales that compete against Lindy in agility.
sheep_herder ★ Posted August 27, 2020 Share #57 Posted August 27, 2020 I grew up in that part of the country. Sounds like Houston is getting ready for the hit. As I mentioned earlier, friend of mine here is from islands off the Louisiana Coast. 1

Storm surge didn’t reach catastrophic levels for the most part. There is a major refinery/chemical plant on fire in Westlake.
Dottleshead ★ Posted August 27, 2020 Share #61 Posted August 27, 2020 I just woke up. Any good destruction? I guess a refinery on fire ranks up there.

The quote I like best that describes the hyperbole surrounding weather events is "I have survived 19 of the last 3 storms around here"

They guys in Lake Charles were struggling to find dramatic damage to report, showed an awning that blew over. It really is a no win situation. They under play the danger, people do not leave and then if it is bad, people die. They over play the danger and it fizzles and they get lampooned. This storm was bad, did damage and will cost many people their homes and businesses. Glad they were mostly wrong and we did not see a 20 foot storm surge
