Popular Post ChrisL Posted August 20, 2020 Popular Post Share #1 Posted August 20, 2020 Fun day in the local mountains. We got there around 9 am and did the 3 mile walk around the lake. By the time we got to fish I knew the trout bite would be shut down so I went after Sunfish & bass with a 4wt fly rod. I was fishing structure near shore and caught several juvenile LM bass and two fat sunfish pushing 1/2 lb each. Lots of missed takes too but it was lots of fun on a light weight fly rod. My daughter set up a pop up on the lake shore and they hung out with Smokey who got to experience the lake for the first time. Really small bass! Further Posted August 21, 2020 Share #2 Posted August 21, 2020 I had a 6 1/2 foot 3 weight that I used on tiny mountain streams. Every once in a while I would hook a decent sized stream bred Brookie and all hell would break loose Seldom landed them, but my heart would be pounding like I had climbed a mountain
ChrisL Posted August 21, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted August 21, 2020 I forgot to mention we saw a bald eagle cruise over the lake. I had only seen one in the wild once before and my wife, daughter & SIL had never seen one in the wild. That was pretty cool too!

Yeah man that sounds like fun!

There is a big pond/lake at my workplace and one guy once saw an eagle sweep down to catch a fish.

Yeah so my first sighting... I was float tubing in a lake up in the Eastern Sierra (Mammoth Lakes). I’m fishing and I see a bald eagle circling above. It then swoops down and snatches a trout maybe 30 yards from me and flys away!

They are darn good fishermen!
