Popular Post ChrisL Posted August 23, 2020 Popular Post Share #1 Posted August 23, 2020 So back in 1980 one of my sisters was dating a guy who was into bike touring and he got me into cycling. I rode with him a lot at first and as I got a bit older got the racing bug but we still rode together on occasion. He and my sister split up but actually remained friends and over the past 30 years I saw him a handful of times. So today I planned to ride but as I had early starts all during my vacation I opted to sleep in and bag off the ride. But at 11 am I get a call from an unknown number and answer it. Hey this is Bob, I got your number from Margie. I know this is short notice but do you wanna ride with me? Damn dude, of course let’s do it! We went on a fun 20’ish miler. He hasn’t been riding much but wants to get back into it. He’s a good 10 years older than me so mid 60’s but he did great. Oh and check out his bike.... I was with him when he got it in 1983. Bob Jackson with Shimano Dura Ace AX. @Page Turner can appreciate it! 6

Page Turner Posted August 24, 2020 Share #5 Posted August 24, 2020 ... I have one of those Bob Jackson crit bikes here from the 70's, and the setup and geometry look very similar. But in the 70's, all we had was crappy Campy New Record friction junk. So mine is probably not as fun to ride as his. But it is orange, so that has to be worth something. Those are nice frames. Classically British in feel and response. Swell bikes.

He was riding in regular shorts and a polo shirt with a back pack to carry water (notice no bottle cage). He started riding in the 1970’s, he’s a bit non traditional in some aspects of his riding!

I noticed no nut and the cap was not black so he was trying to color coordinate it with something. He's good to go.
