Popular Post Ralphie ★ Posted September 4, 2020 Popular Post Share #1 Posted September 4, 2020 The current big ass batch of peaches is going off withoot a hitch. Delicious. No mold or rot even at the fairly low consumption rate of aboot 3 per day. The trick now is trying to time the last buy. The backup peach farmer sells unattended, so I have no clue when sales will stop. BTW, I always eat peaches only after slicing them. The pits are just too dangerous for teeth, and every pit in this latest batch (cling) has split right open so you are more likely to get a fragment that way. Also I never peel them. 🍑 4

They have been absolutely delicious I just realized I am at replacement inventory level, just a few left. I drove past the peach farm but didn’t realize I needed any then, so tomorrow, or maybe tonight.
Further Posted September 4, 2020 Share #5 Posted September 4, 2020 I had one good batch of peaches, and a couple mediocre ones, now peaches seem rare in the stores. Looking forward to apples 1

Looking forward to apples This has been unusual for the late summer batch to be so good. Usually they don’t keep very well or taste as good as the early ones, but these are mmm mmm good. 2Far ★ Posted September 4, 2020 Share #7 Posted September 4, 2020 I am jealous. The peaches down here are big, juicy and beautiful. And virtually tasteless.
BuffJim Posted September 5, 2020 Share #8 Posted September 5, 2020 BuffCarla is a peach Nazi. We are a Nectarine only family. I’ve had some great nectarines and plums this summer.
Ralphie ★ Posted October 13, 2020 Author Share #9 Posted October 13, 2020 Well a great season wrapped up yesterday with a whimper, a big and beautiful but slightly mealy peach. October 11 is awesome for last peach day! Made the last buy at just the right time, around mid-September or so. Lost maybe 5% or so to mold and rot, higher than I would have liked but not bad compared to some years. So I managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat when the primary peach farmer got frozen oot. The backup came through with his best performance in years. Always before his peaches just never held up and they even tasted better this year too.
Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted October 13, 2020 Share #10 Posted October 13, 2020 I used the last six peaches to make peach habanero jam yesterday. Canned in a water bath. I have five jelly jars for winter eating.
Randomguy Posted October 13, 2020 Share #11 Posted October 13, 2020 I didn’t buy a single peach this year. I got tired of buying them and being universally disappointed the last few years. If they are continually expensive and not good, then unfortunately I will pass. I made do with peach milkshakes and such.
Longjohn ★ Posted October 13, 2020 Share #12 Posted October 13, 2020 I’m going to share my last peach with my sweetie today. I bought them in the afternoon that the stand was going to close for the season at 5 PM. They were the best peaches of the year. Big as a softball, freestone, sweet and juicy.
