MickinMD ★ Posted September 26, 2020 Share #7 Posted September 26, 2020 Did you get withdrawal headaches when you last quit? Back in the '80's, the #1 fad diet of the time was the Pritikin Promise: 85% carbs, virtually no fat, and cut out things like coffee. There were reports of people who had had near-death heart conditions running 10K races after going on the Pritikin diet, so there was also a Pritikin Diet for Athletes. So I tried it and had a headache for two weeks straight of coffee withdrawal. After a couple month's, I decided I'd risk getting killed by coffee and have been drinking at least 20 oz. almost every day since.
Dottleshead ★ Posted September 26, 2020 Share #8 Posted September 26, 2020 I drink a lot of that stuff. Espresso, drip, cold brew, you name it. Sometimes caffeine can mess with my heart but in all these years, not having it has never given me headaches. It's full consumption ahead.

I never really quit because I was never really a heavy coffee drinker. I like coffee, but I took after my dad and usually only drink occasionally during the colder months. Tea is my normal caffeine of choice.
