Popular Post petitepedal ★ Posted September 26, 2020 Popular Post Share #1 Posted September 26, 2020 My neighbor Nanette and I headed out about 10:15..the plan..drive east...loop Stillwater, White Bear to home with a possible shopping stop or farm stand. We started at Walgreens down the street..and headed toward Stillwater. I totally spaced the changes with the "new" bridge..So we ended up in WI. No biggie..we went to Hudson, walked the main drag..went into a few stores..I got a simple black & gray dress for $35.We went to a different (for us) restaurant for sammies for lunch..it was okay..but nothing about it said let's come back here again. We did sit next to the deck and the fall color was great. From there... we headed north on WI 35..which more or less follows the river..somewhere...probably a roundabout ..we ended up on..65 north..either way..we drove around enjoying beautiful color...even with overcast skies..finally made a turn that eventually brought us to Balsam lake. We spent a good hour our so trying to remember the name of that autumn plant...Bittersweet. We crossed back into MN at Interstate State Park..the skies started getting darker..but it was barely 3pm A quick stop at Fresh Thyme...and we headed home. Got here about 20 after 4. We noticed a very strong gas smell in the garage..I have noticed it before..I don't think it is me..I only occasionally smell it when I get home . Anyway..we went our separate ways..and just as I sat down with my bottle of water..comes Nanette knocking on my door. She forgot her Walgreens purchase in my car..So I went down with her...As she is a couple of steps from the back door of the car..her big ol bottle of Sprite fell out of the plastic bag it flew forward..hit the concrete block wall..the cap popped off...it flew back and hit the upper door to my storage cabinet finally coming to rest at the back of my car..The floor, the cabinet, my feet, and my car sprayed with soda. I am not sure if Nanette got wet or not. The end 3 1 4

MickinMD ★ Posted September 26, 2020 Share #5 Posted September 26, 2020 I ate at a restaurant I really liked in Wisconsin. That was around 1993. We drove from Baltimore, heading eventually to the Mount Rushmore area, ate lunch somewhere along I-90 in Ohio then we stopped in Chicago so I could show my 3 companions the IIT campus I had attended in the 70's. We were going to eat at Connie's pizza restaurant but it had moved since I had been there in the 70's and we couldn't find it. We got back on I-90 and kept going toward the Motel 6 around Madison where I had made reservations. Shortly after we crossed the border from Illinois to Wisconsin, we found a great restaurant at one of the first exits. It was either great food or we were really, really hungry. If it was diet she couldn’t have made a better choice. We had The Power Team at our church one time. They did things like rip phone books in two and squeeze cans of soda in their bare hands until they pop. We had to secure the phone books and soda for them. They told us diet Sprite, it is colorless and not sticky. It dries up just like water and leaves no trace.
