Allen ★ Posted September 29, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 29, 2020 The damned stink bugs are back. I was nice and asleep and a buzz woke me up. There is a stink bug flying around my bedroom, two more on the wall. sigh.

donkpow Posted September 29, 2020 Share #3 Posted September 29, 2020 The brown marmorated stink bug is an invasive species introduced sometime late in the last century. Similar indigenous bugs look very similar to the marmorated stink bug. ChrisL Posted September 29, 2020 Share #4 Posted September 29, 2020 We call this guy stink bugs. When agitated they lift their buts up and release a stinky smell.

They are everywhere out on the trails. I don’t think I go on a MTB ride without crunching one.

Razors Edge ★ Posted September 29, 2020 Share #10 Posted September 29, 2020 We have Don's version of stinkbugs, but I can't say I have ever actually smelled their stink. I generally, if they happen to get inside, just scoop them up and toss them outside. They don't seem too hard to catch, and really, the ones that do get inside generally seem to keep a low profile. I see the same ones, but I think they must be the innocuous domestic versions since they don’t stink and I don’t think they are marmorated. Looks like they are common in desert regions. They do wander along the trails and are hard to avoid sometimes. https://www.desertusa.com/insects/stinkbug.html

We have the standard stink bug. Donk's version is the invasive species. We are asked to contact the state ag. department if any of the invasive species are found. I've never see any.
