Popular Post jsharr ★ Posted October 8, 2020 Popular Post Share #1 Posted October 8, 2020 Guy came into the store today. Double parked his Beemer across two handicap spots. You know the sort. He had some shoes with a broken buckle. Most common buckle on the market. Been that way for over a decade. Had a box full of them, but I also had some new shoes that I really needed to move. So I grabbed a really old buckle off the bottom shelf and told the guy this was as close as I was gonna get, old buckle, not available, blah blah. Buuuuutttt, I do have these.... only $400. Told him lots of guys in Europe used this shoe. Told him it was the BMW of cycling shoes. He pulled out his Black Amex and let with a smirk on his face and a $300 pair of shoes. 2 5 1
LoneWolf Posted October 8, 2020 Share #2 Posted October 8, 2020 I still have these. Of course, they haven't seen my feet in awhile, but they are durable. 2

LoneWolf Posted October 8, 2020 Share #6 Posted October 8, 2020 Man, I just looked at Shimano's current line of road shoes. What's up with the new round buckles? They look like an adaptation of what Sidi was doing with their high-end gear, and they don't look very durable. Those S-Works shoes SW posted in the other thread too. Am I a mudge, or is that stuff lightweight first, durability second?

I have to remember to "Holly Go Lightly" on the closure
LoneWolf Posted October 8, 2020 Share #8 Posted October 8, 2020 Actually, the more I look, the more the cords remind me of a combination of Adidas' cycling shoes at one point, and the Sidis, but with larger buckles that appear to ratchet. I always feel like those thin cord-ties could snap with tension over time. I still like my heat-molded shoes. Bike shops probably don't even have the special Shimano oven for baking them any more.

I've had them over two years with no problems.
