I think he's in the "not quite what he seemed" category because it was basically his setup that resulted in GE's later problems. He got $417 million in severance pay when he retired and that's certainly far more than he did for GE. I agree completely with Mick, it is just ludicrous the way that CEOs and upper executives have money thrown at them like that. Just seems like an old boys network to me with so many people on so many different boards of directors at once. I thought interlocking directorates were outlawed back around the turn of the century?
