team scooter Posted August 10, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 10, 2014 Actually he cheated. I heard him dragging the trap across the patio trying to release it to take credit for the kill. I'm beginning to think he's not the great white hunter he wants everyone to think he is. Chipmunk season is in full swing here. And this new regime of chippies are huge with black backs. And ravenous! They're just destroying my wifes garden. I need to give my wife and her secret trapping technique credit for the this kill. Sorry Scoot.
Parr8hed Posted August 10, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 10, 2014 Lots of rabbits, coons, squirrels and opossums around here. Don't really see many chipmunks. Except for Alvin, Simon and Theodore.
AirwickWithCheese Posted August 10, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 10, 2014 Scootman was trying to bring the trap to you to save the chipmunk. That's what I choose to believe
petitepedal ★ Posted August 10, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 10, 2014 we had a chippie when I was growing up...I think he lived in the old iron radiator that was under the back steps..Never saw more than 1 at a time ever...
Chopped Liver Posted August 10, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 10, 2014 Chipmunks are the evil cousin to the SLA. Instead of living in the trees, they act like Hamas, and dig tunnels throughout your yard. If it weren't illegal, I'd go all Caddyshack on their ass with some anfo or C4. AirwickWithCheese Posted August 10, 2014 Share #6 Posted August 10, 2014 Unfair comparison. Chipmunks don't hide behind squirrel shields to rocket your Tara there in Atlanta.

team scooter Posted August 10, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted August 10, 2014 These aren't even the cute little racing striped ones. (My wife eradicated those a few years ago.) These moved in afterwards, and are much larger, 10" long, and have dug condos under our garden and shed, causing the shed to settle. They take a few bites out of every strawberry and tomato and are killing one of our service berries with their tunneling. They're so aggressive, they've chased most of the rabbits away. And we've even seen them chasing baby birds. They must die, with fire if necessary. Scoots been out all morning looking for more.

Former member Posted August 10, 2014 Share #12 Posted August 10, 2014 You can borrow some coyotes. You won't have a varmint problem, but they might cause other little animals to disappear as well.

Scooter usually brings his prizes in the house and walks around with it until my wife sees it and flips out. Sometimes he'll leave it at our feet. Dang doggie door.
