Prophet Zacharia Posted November 21, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 21, 2020 I have to admit, this is a part of pop culture that I was never aware of. “The Tamagotchi (たまごっち, IPA: [tamaɡotꜜtɕi]) is a handheld digital pet that was created in Japan by Akihiro Yokoi of WiZ and Aki Maita of Bandai. It was released by Bandai on November 23, 1996 in Japan and on May 1, 1997 in the rest of the world, quickly becoming one of the biggest toy fads of the late 1990s and the early 2000s.”
BuffJim Posted November 21, 2020 Share #2 Posted November 21, 2020 They were super popular for a while. It led to a huge number of rescues needed.

Smashingly, I would imagine. At least if I had both.

MoseySusan Posted November 21, 2020 Share #8 Posted November 21, 2020 I think it had to be fed and cared for or it would die.

shootingstar Posted November 21, 2020 Share #10 Posted November 21, 2020 I have totally missed out on this fad. I don't recall any sister saying their children had these "pets".
shootingstar Posted November 21, 2020 Share #11 Posted November 21, 2020 Just as crazy as a lucky rabbit foot. Remember those on a key chain and fur dyed? Or maybe the fur was fake. That was a 1960's fad. Even as a kid, I was abit creeped out by that.
groupw Posted November 21, 2020 Share #12 Posted November 21, 2020 Our youngest daughter had one. Not quite sure of all the details, but she or one of her friends found one in storage and it was still "alive"! They were talking about it on social media. I guess there is an app you could move the "life" to and care for it there if I understood correctly.
Square Wheels Posted November 21, 2020 Share #13 Posted November 21, 2020 An episode of Corner Gas had one. I never did, pretty sure my kids were too young.
