I'll find bison burgers on restaurant menus up north, but rarely around here. But, I spotted Beefalo burger patties at our locally owned grocery store the last time I went.

I wonder whatever happened to Ted Turner and his big ranch.  Wasn't he a big bison burger guy?

If you can discern a difference between bison and beef, I'd be surprised. The main difference is bison is leaner than beef.

Elk is the most delicious and antelope is quite good too.

Just don't tell me it is moose, or raccoon or snow owl and then I will assume it is beef.  Placebo effect you see.

Bison can be too lean for burger.  That's why it's mixed with beef.  I like bison.  A good elk burger is great stuff.

Do you hunt, get it from friends, or buy it retail?

Hunt unsuccessfully and get it from friends. I had an antelope tag and my GF had an elk tag, but life got in the way of hunting this season. Last year we struck out.

This is a friend. You can see the hoof. She collars and tracks big game for a living.
