Popular Post Square Wheels Posted January 1, 2021 Popular Post Share #1 Posted January 1, 2021 Just for the fun of it, we would like to make a small change in the way we record our daily ride, run, and walk mileage. Instead of posting a separate thread each day, we will post all our activity in this one thread and in so doing, it will be possible to keep a running tally of our total forum activity and mileage. We can then set goals and have loads of fun trying to meet those goals. It is important, therefore, that beginning Jan 1, all activity be recorded here and that members avoid starting any separate mileage threads. Cycling 54,031 Miles Running 429.2 Miles Walking 2,159.3 Miles Skiing / SS 77.4 Miles Hours Gym / Other 67:01 Hrs/min Last update: 1400, 01/02/22 All that is required is that you post your activity as we always have. One of us will come along and edit this post to indicate the totals for each category. We'll also put a little note in your post indicating we've added it to the totals so we can keep track. In this way, we can easily and simply keep track of our total forum activity and progress throughout the year. It should be fun, informative and might even engender a spirit of teamwork. 1 1

Would be an interesting light-hearted story for 60 Minutes or some other news magazine show. Dirtyhip Posted January 1, 2021 Share #8 Posted January 1, 2021 I will try. This will be harder for me, as my device that I used to track is broken. 2020 has not been tracked so well, cause I only have my phone to track. My battery is not super healthy either.

Dirtyhip Posted January 1, 2021 Share #10 Posted January 1, 2021 On a side note, my mileage should be pretty good. My commute doubled in length, so it will be a mandatory 50 miles a week. I rode down the wet and slushy icy hill yesterday, and it wasn't too bad. When I lose the shoulder it will be problematic. It is really narrow up this one section of the commute to get back up to the lot. It's really steep, and not a lot of space. It's a short section

Zealot Posted January 1, 2021 Share #14 Posted January 1, 2021 2020 was a total cycling bust for me. I doubt I got 400 miles for the year. No ride today, but did take Sadie for a walk/run in the rain. I’m pooped!
goldendesign Posted January 1, 2021 Share #15 Posted January 1, 2021 This is a great idea. Count me in. No rides for tje new year. Had a pleasant NYE with the wife and settled down around 1am. Then the toddler wakes up and comes to our bed, wide awake, until about 3:30. I usually do predawn rides so a 4:30am ride was a no thank you.

Bikeguy Posted January 1, 2021 Share #18 Posted January 1, 2021 Not too many miles today. It was sleeting/snowing/icing. etc... We drove to one of our usual places to walk the dogs. WoBG got out of the Subaru and found out she needed ice skates, and since she didn't have them, she fell over in the parking lot and bounced off of the car. She's OK. Just sore.... tomorrow we will see. So we go home, and I took the dogs for a walk in the neighborhood. Bruno decided she didn't like walking in the sleet, and she just stopped walking. I got a huge total of 0.2 miles today walking the dogs. Last year we walked almost every day. I only started tracking our walks starting on 8/13/20, when I started using my Garmin watch, and I tracked 312.8 miles walking. Not a great year cycling, only 606.4 miles in 2020. Most of the riding was on our tandem. I'm sure we walked more than we rode our bikes.

Forum Administrator Posted January 2, 2021 Share #26 Posted January 2, 2021 I don't know how often I'll contribute, but I'll try. My annual New Year's Day ride was only 15 miles. It was nasty and raining all day here. And do dog walks count? I can add 1.75 miles to that. Again, it was raining and gross out. <added to total>

Bikeguy Posted January 2, 2021 Share #31 Posted January 2, 2021 1-2-21 WoBG and I walked the dogs 2.1 miles on the I&M Canal Trail. Parker got to bark at another dog again. I've never had a dog that HATES other dogs. The best part... we stopped and talked to the guy with the dog. After a little while... "Hey your dog doesn't have teeth!" Yeah, Parker will gum your dog to death. Yeah we noticed that when we rescued him 1 year ago. He only has a few molars in the back so at least he can eat solid food. I have NO idea why anyone would have most of the dogs teeth removed. He's 13 now. The 20# killer dog with no front teeth. <added> 1
