TrentonMakes Posted June 26, 2021 Share #1153 Posted June 26, 2021 23 road miles. Went out trying to get a ride in before the rain; a flat tire made certain i failed. My own fault - i had mentioned looking to replace this tire, but never did it. Now i see threads in the tread - can't put it off any longer.

It makes a lot of sense to me that the cranks should increase along with the frame size (which is about 68cm). 2

Thanks! 4 years ago, I was in my peak riding form. I had 2 rides over 22. One was out 50 mile 4th of July ride. We had a South wind that started moderate and kept getting stronger. That worked in our favor as we headed North after the halfway point. At one point I was doing 34 MPH and I was spinning out. I couldn't get into my smallest cog and the rest of the lead group was pulling away from me. Eventually I created my own peloton as I picked up riders that fell off the lead group, but they were blown up so I pulled most of them. The 2nd was the Scratchtoberfest ride. Some storms not predicted popped up. We stopped at a convenience store at 15 miles to check radar. We had to wait 2 hours for a narrow window to open on an alternate route. Only 1 guy chose to ride with me and even he decided to call it at the next town 10 miles later. I was solo and didn't have to worry about waiting for anyone and I had a solid tailwind. I did the final 45 miles solo.

I think my best was on May 22 of this year. I had a 20 mph moving ave after 50 miles, 3 of us most of the time, a few more at times. The last 11 miles were solo and I finished with a 19.2 ave.

Popular Post Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted July 5, 2021 Popular Post Share #1198 Posted July 5, 2021 43 miles... This was unusual, in that the stream is typically just about dry this time of year. We have had some rain over the past week, but I didn't think enough to fill the creek like this: I was riding through a town park and a bunch of local urchins swarmed out of this pirate ship and threw me in the brig. They demanded my cell phone as the price of letting me out, but when I showed them my flip phone they got disgusted all their efforts were for naught and let me go. The Chuctanunda Creek. I think the name means 'Of wood chucks there are none here'. And old mill and dam on the creek. I think the devices on the boom over the water are monitors for flood warnings, as the creek is one of many that empty into the Mohawk River. The upstream side of the mill. What you can't see is the unfortunate deterioration in the mill's foundation at the water's edge. Not sure who owns the property, but it has looked like this for quite a few years, and it seems it's not getting any attention. I think it would be cool to live in an old mill like this one. A bit of local history I hadn't been aware of. Various parts of New York were integral to the Underground Railroad, particularly Madison and Oneida counties. About 40 businesses and homes in Montgomery County are believed to have been stops on the Underground Railroad.
Popular Post TrentonMakes Posted July 5, 2021 Popular Post Share #1199 Posted July 5, 2021 23 miles today.... 11 and change on a solo ride, and then 11 and change with my daughter. There's a nasty little climb near the house that's often the last obstacle before I get home (for some reason the segment is known as "doggy hill"). According to Strava I set my best time on that hill in August 2015 - that was the year I lost all the weight, and my KHS was new, and I was in good shape. I tied that mark today and I'm really happy about that. 5
