Some Old Guy Posted January 5, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2021 I wonder how many people in these states know this bit of trivia? No Googling or other cheating allowed... The names of these 2 states honor a king & his father, who was executed in 1649
Zephyr Posted January 5, 2021 Share #2 Posted January 5, 2021 I got it, but for no other reason than a little logical thinking and reasoning. I did not actually know but looked it up after and was right

It's tough to go through 50 states in 30 secs or whatever they have in Jeopardy. I rolled down the original colonies and then started branching out. And see the answer now! It likely helps knowing dead kings and when they died.

I always thought the names of these states had a different origin.
Zephyr Posted January 5, 2021 Share #8 Posted January 5, 2021 SPOILER ALERT! CAUSE I DONT KNOW HOW TO DO A HIDDEN CONTENT THING I just wild ass guessed that as they were asking for two states, it was possibly a North and South. Knowing (or thinking I knew) 'Dakota's were a native tribe, I picked the Carolinas.

Some Old Guy Posted January 5, 2021 Author Share #11 Posted January 5, 2021 Spoiler I was born and lived in North Carolina until I was almost ten. I always assumed the Carolinas were named after some English Queen or Princess named Caroline. Who knew it was a King named Charles?

My first inkling was it was a North and South, but then I overthunk it and also went for Georgia and blank. My first instinct would have put me on the Zephyr program. The Dakotas were my first guess and had I stuck with that I probably would have moved over to the Carolinas. Mmm-hmmm!
