TL;DR.

And this is a discussion forum, not a reference library. Gimme the scoop, briefly.

@MickinMD is our Civil War buff, so he can give a short overview :D

Here's a cut and paste that folks can use as an amuse bouche:

David Herold — An impressionable and dull-witted pharmacy clerk, Herold accompanied Booth to the home of Dr. Samuel Mudd, who set Booth’s injured leg. The two men then continued their escape through Maryland and into Virginia, and Herold remained with Booth until the authorities cornered them in a barn. Herold surrendered but Booth was shot and died a few hours later.

Lewis Powell — Powell was a former Confederate prisoner of war. Tall and strong, he was recruited to provide the muscle for the kidnapping plot. When that plan failed, Booth assigned Powell to kill Secretary of State William Seward. He entered the Seward home and severely injured Seward, Seward’s son, and a bodyguard.

Mary Surratt — Surratt owned a boarding house in Washington where the conspirators met. Sentenced to death, she was hanged, becoming the first woman executed by the United States federal government.

George Azterodt — German-born Azterodt was a carriage painter and boatman who had secretly ferried Confederate spies across Southern Maryland waterways during the war. Recruited by Booth into the conspiracy, he was assigned to kill Vice President Andrew Johnson, but lost his nerve and stayed in a hotel bar, drinking, instead.

I saw one of the guys who was on the senate floor who’s been arrested is a retired AF Lt. Colonel. While I tend to think he’ll be more difficult to crack than a guy living in the basement of his mom’s, I also believe they may lean on him more heavily than the others?

The retired AF Lt. Col. said he found the cuffs in the floor and was going to give them to the next peace officer that he encountered. It was also reported that his views over the past few years have become so extreme that he was alienating those close to him. The military is considering a tribunal for a court marshal that would take away his military pension.

I didn’t know he had cuffs, too. But he seemed like a select few who made it to the Senate Floor, which seemed too much of a coincidence to me. And I would imagine his penalty would be much more than loss of pension, as difficult as that may be on his finances.

One of the men id's from pictures inside the capitol was turned in by his ex wife.

That was Lt. Col. Brock.

What’s the military penalty for sedition?

By not accepting the case, Larrabee v. the United States, the [US] Supreme Court upheld the status quo: that military retirees are subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.) said Tuesday that she witnessed colleagues escorting people through the Capitol on Jan. 5 for what she described as "reconnaissance" ahead of the next day's violent insurrection that left five dead.

Sherrill didn’t name any colleagues specifically, but Rep. Boebert tweeted “Today is 1776” on the morning of 1/6, and gave updates on Speaker Pelosi’s position inside the Capitol during the attack via Twitter. Capitol tours have been suspended since March due to Covid.
