shootingstar Posted January 10, 2021 Share #4 Posted January 10, 2021 Pannini grill/toaster might be more flexible. I don't own/use one, so don't know any particular issues.

For Christmas, my random-picked White Elephant gift was a Hamilton Beach Breakfast sandwich maker. I have to use a limited amount of cheese or I end up cleaning it off the bottom ring, hot plate and lower sides of the machine. I'm better off adding the cheese at the end. I'm might be better off using a non-stick 3.5" ring on a frying pan and stacking the muffin halves or bread slices, meat, and cheese/egg together at the end. That would also let me use low-carb, high-fiber pancake mix to make "bread" for the ends.

What I do to make a quick and easy "grilled cheese": 1. Toast the bread (dark). Whole wheat is best. 2. Butter both slices of bread and add a slice of your favorite american cheese to make a cheese sandwich. 3. Put cheese sandwich in microwave for 30 seconds or until the cheese melts to your satisfaction. Voila! A genuine imitation "grilled cheese" sandwich! Works for me, anyway. No mess and super quick.
